Got home and checked my game cam after a 4-week soak. 2 doe and a spike. This is my family land going back to the 1800's and it's never been this barren as long as I've been hunting.

I never laid eyes on the source, but I listened to a deer travel probably 50-60yds from the center of the sawgrass pond coming toward my location.... That thing took over an hour to travel 50yds. I don't know for sure but I'd wager that was the buck who been making fresh sign all over the area I set up in tonight. I saw 1 doe while elevated and 3 others while walking in to get set up....1 of the 3 I encountered on the ground had stripes...I'm not sure if it was mud or she had discolored markings... I tried to get a pic/video but I wasn't quick enough. Seen a massive hog on the way out and a handful of deer. My friend who drew the quota can't hunt tomorrow so that hunt is over. Seen deer every sit but no antlers....military base opens tomorrow but I won't make.it out there...maybe next weekend

Man....I got whooped today. 12 miles according to the GPS track. I set up on some good stuff but the wind kept switching around so I pretty much walked all day except 1.5 sit in a tree. A coyote caught some kind of critter, baby rabbit if I had to guess, and as soon as it started death squealing I got winded and it dropped whatever it was and I got to listen to it screaming for probably 20 minutes till it either died of coyote snuck back and retrieved....I only saw 1 deer and I tried a stalk and got to maybe 50yds but never a shot opportunity....Screenshot_20221123-103715~2.png

Got my ML tag for some nearby public land. My broken ribs seem to be finally mending and the wx this weekend should be in the 40’s.

Kid has to work sunday so I’ll only get a saturday hunt but my monday meetings were cancelled and may have to take advantage of that.

Headed back to the base in the morning....we see how it goes. Good luck to everybody this weekend. Go walk off some of that Thanksgiving stuffing

Happy Thanksgiving fellas!! So I got to go out for a morning sit in WV on Thursday, I held out as long as I could for a buck, but nothing showed so another long shot for a doe this time! 326 yards on the same pipeline that my opener buck was on, she didn't make it 60 yards as well.

2 more tags to fill this season but I have the option to buy more doe tags for the late season In pa special regs area! Good luck everyone still out hunting, if your getting burned out remember this is our time of year, we only get to do this a few months out of every year, and it only takes a second to change a season! Happy hanging, be safe! Keep at it!!!!

Heading out in an hour to that public land. Using Earth, I've identified (4) 300+ acre areas with promise offering shelter, water and access to various food plots.

These first few hunts are mostly for scouting and am not bringing any climbing stuff, just alot of walking. Based on these scouts, I'll go back and sit in the coming days if I don't bump something first.

Hope your feeling better soon weldabeast. I hunted a bunch this weekend. Everything has changed at my spot that was on fire during peak rut. This week the boom boom sticks will be out and about. It’s time for me to implement 2 strategies. 1 go where no lazy hunters are willing to go. 2, at the polar end of that spectrum, hunt some bedding areas that are right next to the parking areas. Found a great one of those today. I’ll go 20 yards from the truck and hang high. These critters are really making me work this year.
