I have a cell cam on a community scrape since august 1st. It’s been HOT! At least 5 bucks “2 8pts” and plenty of doe and fawn traffic. All the bucks have been using the licking branch since day one. Then it happened… 2 hunters walked by with stands to set up. Typical dudes around here waiting till the week before the opener to get out there. I hope they didn’t stink up the place too bad but I fear things will change since they walked right through the scrape and probably didn’t even know what it is.
 
First quota of the year in the books. Best first hunt to date....had the pig encounters day 1, deer encounters and my friends doe kill day 2, and seen a single deer today... lots of turkeys..I have never seen animals on all three days before.... The well managed wma helps a bunch.

I'm done in there but 2 of my hunt buddies will be in there next weekend and I did a bunch of scouting this weekend so hopefully some of the Intel we learned can help with their coming hunt.
 
Got my first sit in last night, seen 5 deer. all doe and nothing in range. The saddle will be something I need to get use to!
This week looks to be a dip in temperature and might be a good day or two to get out.

I bought a saddle off a guy on facebook, I don't recall his name right off the top of my head but he made the saddle years ago before he started sewing for tethrd. I sat last night for 3 hours. I've practiced all summer using various methods. 4 helium sticks, 1 stick with 3 step aider (helium), and now a 1 stick from Rebel Fab. I have, well had, a pursuit platform, Ridge Runner 1, and a ROS.
I do know I am 100% going to rappel.

Last night I used the 1 stick Rebel, but didn't like the platform room. I'd like to have a little more to stand on, I think.

Back to the saddle... I felt pinching on the back of my legs, and around the top of my waist. No to the point I needed to get down, but found myself adjusting often. Thinking I might look into a better saddle to cover more of my rear.. lol
It was my first sit, and I learned a lot about what I think I want and what I need and want to try. I don't think I would last all day that for sure. As of right now with my current setup.

I'm sore today in my low back, hips, and feet- lol
 
I'm little sore from my first go around for this season also.....that's pretty normal.

I've had 2 diy and now a for real paid for saddle. All 3 I fidget all the time too...I rotate positions 30 minutes to an hour...sit 30, stand 30, gentle sway transferring weight from 1side to the other. I wish I didn't do it but I do and just except that. I look for trees were I can get up in them and hide in the branches or back cover to help block movent.....but honestly I've had deer and pigs under me while elevated and as long as the movements are slow and fluid IMO u can get away with more movement than u think...my woods are thick, but if they weren't, maybe not the best advice

One thing that helps me is using 2 steps along with the small platform. When your feet or knees get sore, transfer to the steps (one on each side). Kinda feels like you’re on horseback.
As far as saddles, I tried a single panel, Drey, and two 2 panel saddles. IMO you can’t beat the comfort and support of a 2 panel.

definitely looking at picking up a 2 panel.
 
First 2 we're single panel....kite copy and phantom copy. New 1 is pleated. I've test sat in maybe 10 different saddles of various designs and my advice would be whichever style u choose would be the make/model than uses thicker stiffer webbing/materials...thin seatbelt style webbing used for construction saddles are more uncomfortable imo.....heavier saddles with stiffer webbing seemed more comfortable

Ohio scout went great except for one major flaw... I messed up on the dates for the bow opener. I thought it was the 28th...lol.
We were there without a weapon. We did piss one guy off who looked like we blew him out of his stand, that sucked. But we were careful after that.
I put up 7 cell cams and 3 non cell. I already have shooters on them. I also picked up a new piece of private to hunt. We cut a trail thru the cat tails to a river crossing along a ridge, nice set up that gets us away from others. We also cut an amazing trail thru some real thick stuff a mile in from a trail to a spot that no one can get to. Found lots of sign. Looking good for our late October hunt.

I'm scheduled for fri-sun....not sure if the wma gonna be open or not. If it is open and the host hunter is willing to go ( i pretty sure he is wanting to get out there as bad as I am) then I'll be out there. Fri weather is hurricane Saturday/Sunday supposed to be nice....hahaha
