Termination knots? distel hitch tails to carabiner, Oplux/TRC

Double fisherman's for termination and I use Michocan hitch for lanyards(linemans) use it with Ropewrench as well.

I’m gonna have to give this a shot

Definitely want one-handed operation capability

DanO sells at least 3 types of tinders. I use the one that is two matching plastic squares joined by sewn webbing.

And just to clarify for myself and others
- double fisherman = poacher knot
- triple fisherman = scaffold knot
Or no? Slightly different

I would look up scaffold knot and follow the instructions for it and not try to take the double fisherman's knot instructions and then apply it. I believe the scaffold knot is half of a double fisherman's on a bight and the poacher's knot is a half a fisherman's on a bight. I call it "half" because usually a double fisherman's is a bend to join two ropes and so you have to tie two separate knots. I always use the scaffold over the poachers.

Edit: I looked it up and you are correct and I was wrong. But I still advise to follow specific scaffold knot instructions.

Next decision for the distel is a 4 over 1 (left) vs 3 over 1 (right). I started with the 3 over 1 at ground level, did some simulated drops and had a small amount of slippage but it eventually grabbed the Oplux well. 3 over 1 slides a little better then the 4 over 1. However I had no slip with the 4 over 1 but it was more difficult to advance one handed with the tender as expected.

Ideally I can break in the brand new ropes and use the 3 over 1.

Not sure what others have used.

This is a somewhat older thread but I wanted to second what you’ve said and hope someone else has some input. I, too, use a distel with TRC on Oplux. 3 over 1 is easy to tender but in a simulated ground level fall, it will not grab my 250 lb self. I use the 3D printed tender.
With 4 over 1, no slippage but it does wanna jam up on me sometimes and can be difficult to one hand tend it. The rope is practically new, so I’m hoping with some wear, the 4 over 1 will perform better.

I did the 4 over 1 and your right it is a pain to move I went over to the kliemheist knot and it has worked better for me it’s easy to break and really holds my weight

Thanks, I'll give that a shot and see if it's better.

Oh, and WPS! I assume, given the username.

I bought some 9mm Sterling C-IV and 6mm Sterling TRC a month ago from DanO to make a rappel setup. I used scaffold knots on the end and it works great! I think a poachers knot would also be sufficient, just nice seeing one more wrap.
