Tether Handles

What was the result?
Paracord crushed and bunched up and wouldn't ever release properly. I ended up scrapping the paracord/fuel line idea.

For me, turns out that a single, loose, plain old ziptie on either side of the tree works perfectly. I left enough room in each of the zipties until there was about a two inch diameter circle (enough to get two fingers into). The ziptie-loop slides over OpLux wonderfully.

By the way, how does one go about disabling a ziptie so that it no longer cinches down? I.e., how do I keep the circle from getting smaller?

Edit: Nevermind... Google says to use a dab of superglue and let it sit a minute.

Sweet! A simpler way to do it for sure.

How was this working out? I have had two zip ties break, thinking the tie might have been brittle?

I'm sorry buddy. Can't speak to how they hold up long-term. I stopped using zip ties when I got some TATs from Genesis 3D Printing.

I will say this though... the Austin's tether assist tools are the bees knees!

Any updates or new handles?
I try to address my struggles and currently my biggest is moving up my tether. I have a bad shoulder and can barely lift my right arm up, unless I “walk” it up the tree with my fingers. I have some ideas but curious about the latest DIYs. I’m thinking hard wire with looped ends…..I have amsteel, but I’d like to push the tether up instead of pulling it up, if that makes sense.

I have been thinking about this a lot too but haven’t come up with a good solution. I tried making cobra weave pull handles with a loop end to Prusik around the rope, but it as others mentioned previously, paracord didn’t work so great.

Sewn webbing with a piece of fuel line in it and girth hitched to rope it forms a loop but you got to figure out how long of webbing and fuel line you need. If I can find mine I’ll snap a pic but it’s pretty easy to make and I’m sure you could make this with amsteel

Interesting. I’d been thinking of making a webbing loop with a water knot and then girthing it the rope.

Here is a commercial version similar of webbing tether handles.

Genesis 3D TATS still going strong. Love that they double as a gears hanger/bow holder.

I've used my s-biners on my tether for adjusting it, then they are already on my tether when I need them too. They slide fine for adjusting
