@CP3 I am admittedly one of the people that weighs in to hate on them more than probably i "should". I'm sure there's people on here that want me to shut up about them. Some likely work for tethrd, most likely don't.
My reasons are : it's an internet forum and I am free to express my opinion. That's basically it but here's my personal justification if you/others care: I think everyone should know about their business practices because I believe they are making decisions that prioritize making money over keeping their customers safe. Because the company was basically started on this site, I believe they also "owe" the hunting community at least less misleading advertising and recalled products more than the average company, however realistically I just want them held to the same standard as everyone. I also think Hawk operates the same way, however seems to be held to account/"known" as a borderline questionable brand, while tethrd is treated like a top end brand like OOAL or EWO etc. Nobody's acting like those companies aren't profitable, but they also aren't shady (correct me if I'm wrong here). We can all for the most part agree that hawk puts out some shady stuff, but tethrd gets special treatment here and people like me get treated like we are making something up when we point it out. Other people weigh in on threads like this to prioritize making sure people know who manufactures here in the USA vs elsewhere for similar reasons- they aren't directly affected, but are encouraging the general public/rest of the forum to "vote with their dollars" and consider supporting other companies with better safety/transparency records, or in their case, USA manufactured products. (For example, hating on Hawk-nobody goes to hat for them in the way people go to bat for tethrd, but they both put out things that break, because it's more profitable to do that than to spend more R&D money (or other reasons, this is all assumptions).
We remind each other about climbing safely, taking ethical shots etc in a lot of different ways on here, to me this is more of the same, don't buy from a company that cares more about their dollars than your safety, buy from a company that doesn't treat it's customers as a disposable. I hope I've changed at least one person's opinion about that company, probably haven't, won't stop trying though unless the rules get changed and we aren't allowed to weigh in like this. But yep, I get it that I'm likely turning people away/sounding like a snowflake. That's ok, I know I'm a bit of a blowhard at times, know thyself and all. I'd rather people dislike me as a person and didn't die when their equipment breaks than have a lot of dead internet friends.
