Dear Tethrd,

There has been a fair amount of discussion about Tethrd ONE climbing sticks in the general forum.

In that forum, there are reports of the chemical weld that bonds the titanium tube and standoff failing on some of the ONE sticks.

I was hoping discussion in the Vendor Access Area would foster dialogue that could address this and other product related questions.

To begin, if the glue fails on the Tethrd ONE climbing stick, what do you recommend the purchaser do?

Kindly, thanks for your feedback.

Hi Greg and Ernie,

I'm sure you've been busy prepping for the Teach-N-Train tour (super cool you do that) and hunting thunder chickens, as well as coming off your outdoors show circuit. I realize you may not have seen this, and just wanted to pass it along.

Best, Scott

The sticks are safe without the glue and we tested them without the glue. If you want to send yours in, we will replace them. Send us an email to hello@tethrdnation.com.

Great news, thanks for the reply.

To be frank, I don't have a set. For myself, and maybe some others, talk of the glue failing has caused some reservations since the glue was promoted as the primary structural bonding component between the standoffs and tube. I was certainly in the check availability everyday camp when these were first announced, and like alot about the design.

I appreciate the warranty Tethrd offers, with replacement if the glue fails, but this is more concerning to me as a point of safety. While things can always go wrong while elevated, I personally feel the greatest risk I incur is while climbing using a lineman's belt and failure of a standoff during that process is frightening.

With all the banter, its good to hear from the horse's mouth that Tethrd says they are safe without the glue. I was aware that some testing of the product was done without the glue, with positive results.

It would be reassuring if you could provide the specifics of how those tests were conducted and if they exceeded all ASTM safety standards recognized by TMA. As well, it would be nice to have clarification if the replacement upon chemical weld failure is limited to 1 year from purchase.

Very respectfully,

Scott

All testing was performed by a third party laboratory that specializes in TMA testing per the ASTM standards. The climbing sticks passed and exceeded all requirements. If the sticks would have failed the tests, they wouldn't be on the market. This is why testing is so important to Tethrd.

Our standard warranty would still apply in this case.

Great, thanks. I'm not trying to needle, I see they meet 3rd party testing (website). I didn't know if that was with and without the integrity of the chemical weld.

Ernie wrote me too, which was great.

Appreciate all the feedback.

Very respectfully,
Scott
