Tethrd One Sticks Gen 2

Ok--does the allen bolt go into a threaded channel? rivet nut? etc? either way, I"m sure specs could be developed to make sure the tolerances are tighter...though that would increase the product cost and tooling, and decrease profit margin.
Can’t say I’m sure. Looks like it’s probably a nut/bolt assembly with the bolt keyed to the recess in the dyneema keeper. What I don’t know is if the bolt is just passively run through the middle opening of a pin that’s obscured by the assembly and is not at all structural. That’s certainly possible. No way am I gonna mess with it to try to answer that question, though!

Definitely looking forward to hauling these in the woods this fall. Incredibly lightweight. Didn’t know how I’d feel about the attachment method but I’m definitely a fan.

Undecided on my aider method on these but I’ll use one, even with four sticks.

Has anyone tried and seen if the gen 1 sticks will stack with the gen 2s? Not sure I’m guessing the stacking pins are in the same location.

I used mine yesterday to trim some trees around the house. They worked as a stick should, no complaints from me.

Received my 3-pack yesterday. Stealth Stripped them, built 3 Single Step Amsteel Aiders (1/4”) and mounted them. Have climbed all 3. Love them! Never had the Gen1s. A tiny bit of flex is there. I don’t, however, have any wobble…….not yet, anyway! I’m personally very happy!

would you mind posting pictures of your aiders? Looking to make one, myself but conflicted on what to use over the Amsteel as the “step”

i don't know if irony is the word but....

if these things were a lot cheaper, then someone here would have already figured out a DIY solution to this....and we'd all be ordering them and following their detailed "fix thread"

but, like mentioned by someone else upstream, ain't nobody monkeying around with this.....like trying to amateur modify a Ferrari in your driveway while voiding its brand new warranty

The Gen1 and Gen 2 stack together with no issues.

I will second this. A buddy who has the Gen1 sticks attached a Gen2 stick without issue.

I originally purchased the Gen1 sticks last year and returned them because of all the reported issues. I never had any issues. I did however really like them when I tried them out. I was impressed enough that I sold my Beast mini sticks and bought 4 of the Gen2 sticks. I split the 2nd box with 2 other people.

I took mine out today and really put them to the test, more of a torture test. I bounced up and down as far out on the edge of cleats as I could trying to get some wobble...nothing. The top step does rock a little but it's the flex in the tube (I'm 215-200) They stack great and with a little more practice doing it in the dark should be easy.
Read a lot of complaints with gen 1 being loud but all I did was stealth strip the tube on these. They stack so well if you're paying attention it's hard to make noise by banging them together.
I do like the foot room better on the beasts but the weight and rope cleat on the ones is what's really making the difference for me

I don't want to derail this thread with more bashing, but I thought one of the crappiest features of the first gen is the dynaloc button. No matter how hard I took slack out of the line I couldn't get it with no slack after it sets. This caused me to nearly have a kickout on a big oak. The bottom of the stick kicked to the right and only stopped because one of the teeth caught a wedge on the bark. That's when I sold the sticks.
I only use a truckers hitch with daisy chain because it gets 100% slack outta the line.

Most the time you be need to make sure your line is level with the dynaloc button and pull down on the stick some to get slack out of the line then reset it.
I had to to the same thing with my beast sticks while using amsteel.

when you wrap around a round post and pull, then you get 2x mechanical advantage, like a cam buckle (trucker's hitch is 3x)

tethrd could make a round post to get the 2x advantage and then on the end of the post or somewhere else provide the the boat cleat like function of the current thing (so you can finish with that instead of a half hitch or something)
