Definitely looking forward to hauling these in the woods this fall. Incredibly lightweight. Didn’t know how I’d feel about the attachment method but I’m definitely a fan.

Undecided on my aider method on these but I’ll use one, even with four sticks.

Check my amsteel aiders. Seem solid. Easy to build

Check my amsteel aiders. Seem solid. Easy to build. Sorry, just realized they posted twice.

I don't want to derail this thread with more bashing, but I thought one of the crappiest features of the first gen is the dynaloc button. No matter how hard I took slack out of the line I couldn't get it with no slack after it sets. This caused me to nearly have a kickout on a big oak. The bottom of the stick kicked to the right and only stopped because one of the teeth caught a wedge on the bark. That's when I sold the sticks.
I only use a truckers hitch with daisy chain because it gets 100% slack outta the line.
I’m with you on the truckers hitch. for the sticks and my Predator, the only way I’ll go. Now with the gen 2’s, what about a prusik that gets you the (adjustable) mechanical advantage. A simple overhand is too much of a PITA to untie.

when you wrap around a round post and pull, then you get 2x mechanical advantage, like a cam buckle (trucker's hitch is 3x)

tethrd could make a round post to get the 2x advantage and then on the end of the post or somewhere else provide the the boat cleat like function of the current thing (so you can finish with that instead of a half hitch or something)
I'll say too, its not a horrible amount of slack. I'm sure most would be fine with it. But I've climbed hundreds and hundreds of trees of all shape, size, and craziness. And I do not and will not tolerate any slack in the line whatsoever. Once I trucker hitch a beast stick and set it, there is no feasible way to kick that stick out. Catastrophic failure of the amsteel or stick is the only thing thatd do you in

The buyer is going to file a claim saying they thought it was 3 sticks since that is what is in the pic. Guaranteed.

Then the seller will be out shipping both ways, or will just lose the stick and ebay will refund the buyer.

Not saying it will serve them right. Not saying that.... :expressionless:

I was able to get to 16’6” with 4 sticks and a 2 step aider on the bottom stick (no additional aiders). Those single aiders for the remaining sticks look like a good idea. I usually don’t like messing around with aiders 15 feet off the ground but the single step aiders don’t look like too much of a hassle.

a single step aider is easy but tends to make me (at least) slightly less likely to practice proper lineman's lanyard technique....I tend to want to grab the tree or stick when taking the aider step and not lean into the lanyard to keep it tight and above me

that's the only downside to me

it's partly because i want to stretch everything out too much (24 inch steps or more)

Sticks are back in stock along with the option of individual sticks

3 Packs are out. I never got the stock notification but happened to see them on their site. Kind of BS they make you order them separately. So if you order a 3 pack and want a single, you have to place separate orders. Separate shipping for each order. Oh and if you want some Stealth Strips that is extra shipping as well. Makes no sense whatsoever.

If it was not for the weight of these things I would never spend that much money on sticks. The weight savings is worth it to me since I have 2 herniated disks in my back. Oh well, if they have issues I will sell them and move on. I have been happy with my saddle and my predator platform, so I guess time will tell.

Yeah, that's really lame. They do (or at least did) the same thing with skeletors since those are also pre-boxed, apparently. They could easily throw all the items in a larger box that will fit the stick packs and the extras. OR...they could get better control of the automated shipping rules that they set on their website to account for the cost difference. But saddle hunting and climbing gear is currently a seller's market, so they can do whatever they want it seems...at least for now.

I did come across a new saddle hunting accessory company recently (and posted seperately about them) that is offering free shipping on all $75+ orders. They are one of the few, if not the only ones that offer such a common thing. Although I have seen some offer free shipping on saddle kits alone. The others will need to compete with that soon enough.

Sticks ship from a different location than the rest of the items. I think that’s where they get you on separate shipping charges.
