Sorry to be blunt, but then why did you recommend this method for them prior to any testing?
Tested them on 3 different trees. Works great

Video to show these in action. Also put up a video showing the option that works with EWO squirrel steps.
Seems like a great way to attach a Predator or sticks too.
Love the videos bro! Thank you. Seems like you could make the button runner work for a Squirrel Step also, correct?
It says on loopalien's website that the rca's are not load bearing and are not designed for human weight. I like the idea though.
Instead of a daisy chain, why not do this button attachment with a whoopie sling that you can pull fully tight?
I would consider trying them if it wouldn't cost $190 for 11 of the titanium xl's. Even if you used the aluminum xl it would still be $100. That's not counting amsteel either. I may still try the regular button idea with a couple of steps just to see how they work. I've been wanting to make a few daisy chains anyway.
Yeah, I just really like to experiment with this stuff. I timed myself today and it still took me 15 minutes to get to 20’ with the button runner. That might be a deal breaker for me.
I hear you, and the ideas are awesome. A deal breaker as in you don't think that will work for you? I take about that much time for my SS's now and it may not be as fast as I would like, but I don't think I could go back to sticks after seeing how packable steps are. Maybe a daisy chain with 1in or 1.5in spacings would allow you to get a couple notches tighter to the tree with the button method. I don't know if it would even make a difference but it might be worth a shot. They would be a pain to make though.
whoopies are terrible might as well go with a cranford rope step if you're going to go with a whoopieInstead of a daisy chain, why not do this button attachment with a whoopie sling that you can pull fully tight?
Give it a shot. I have found that whoopie slings are difficult to release once tightened against the tree in my experience.
