The first official Florida Saddle Hunter Meet up

I have the 10/7 Cary bow hunt. Does anyone have one of the other bow hunts that wants to share permits? Thanks.

Cary 2nd archery, guana 1st archery, guana 1st muzzleloader, and a January Cary hog hunt are the ones on the books for me. Anybody welcome to say hi....fingers crossed for this round of reissues

I assume everyone else really hates the quota system too so let me ask you this really stupid hypothetical question:

(1) Would you rather get a quota for the whole season (archery, muzzle, gun) even if it meant only drawing once every couple of years?

(2) Have all WMAs open to anyone during the season with a daily first come first serve quota.

(3) Keep the same lame 3 day quota.

#1 would be my choice
#2 is the worst case scenario because the best spots would be way way over pressured
#3 wouldn’t be bad either because I never apply for lame areas

I would say 1 if I knew I could draw every other year but if it would take 3 to 5 to draw I would say no to that. Number 2 would be ok I think. I doubt most daily quotas would be filled and then you could hunt the same WMA for all three seasons and really dial it in.

Ya for 2 I was thinking about Guana during duck season which is a disaster. But I tend to think that the deer hunting pressure is a lot more spread out so I don’t think it would be a direct comparison. Even during a three day quota hunt I don’t ever see that many trucks out there. I feel like close to half of the people who drew just don’t show up.

I really wish FWC would manage better for deer. Imagine if they planted corn or beans or whatever in WMAs and did some real habitat improvement. I would gladly pay an extra $100 for my license if they did that.
