The Hateful Eight team discussion thread

Saw a good buck last night who was feeding and not interested. Have been seeing lots of dead deer on the road including bucks so its getting going.
 
I have to work the weekend as well but I’m off for a lot of the week and have stand time penciled in. Rutting activity is really getting going in south central Wisconsin
 
Half day this Friday, all day Saturday, of 8,9 and 12th season ends the 12 in PA
 
Evening hunt tomorrow. Sun up to down on Tuesday. Gotta work wed-thurs then evening hunt Friday and sun up to down Saturday. Bucks are running pretty crazy. Not quite peaked but we’re close here. Hopefully I find one to cooperate.
 
I havent seen any bucks running yet. Ive seen bucks and does only had one trailing but not chasing last thursday and Saturday I had 1 push a doe but nothing crazy. Definitely seems later then last year
 
Nothin, nada, zilch. Well, I had a HUGE fork under the tree this morning and when I looked up from watching him and thinking about how good his backstraps would taste there was a big body black deer (never got a look at the headgear) working up the draw about 60 yards away. I tried grunting to turn him but either wasn’t interested or didn’t hear me. I’ll be back out Friday and Saturday. There’s plenty of nice bucks running around the different properties I hunt. Just need one to cooperate. If it doesn’t happen this weekend though it’ll be up to the gun and I’ve not had any success at all for bucks during gun season. I did not see any actual chasing activity out there but the woods are tore up.
 
I'll be out Thursday (all day), Friday ( all day), Saturday ( most day), and Monday (all day). I refuse to rifle hunt because I love archery. I will however archery hunt in rifle.

Pics can only be 1600 pixels in a dimension. If you can't resize it just take a screenshot on your phone.

Turned around to draw, struggled, and when I pulled harder my knot slipped over my biner, shifted my weigh and and my finger tripped the trigger which shot at about a 45 degree angle. It would have been fine because he didn’t even run off but in the process I dropped my release (which scared him enough to run to 30 yards.)

So I looked at a deer that was probably pushing 240-250 live weight with a spread outside his ears. There was only 15 min of shooting light so I couldn’t exactly see what he had going on vertically but his inside spread was 20”+

Also missed another buck at about 30 yards today after my arrow deflected.

Fortunately and unfortunately I was still-hunting because it was a 20mph wind so it wouldn’t have counted as a saddle kill!

He ran past one of my cameras after I missed
