The No-Shame Thread

Ok so does anyone else get really pissed that they are always just a little to late for the good deals that only make it a couple minutes in the classifieds or is this just me?? And I can't stand the texture of organs(heart, liver, etc...) so I am glad I could get that off my chest!!!

First year whitetail hunting, moving from out west where we only hunted public I felt a moral high ground in hunting public. Met a friend of my boss who owns a corn farm and I’ve shot more does on his land this season than I’ve ever seen on public. Filling the freezer and getting notches on the saddle belt is more fun than roughing it on public.
AMEN. I know hunting public is all the craze, but it can be a lot easier and more fun hunting private if you have/can get access. My philosophy is to hunt wherever is most fun, and no one else should make you feel bad about that. If you have fun bow hunting highly pressured bucks 3 miles deep on public land in Michigan because you like the challenge, great—hunt that! If you like sauntering out to a heated blind overlooking a private corn field behind your house and smoking a doe with your rifle at 200 yards, awesome—hunt that! Personally, I enjoy a mix of both public and private, but I generally get greater joy out of not having any of my limited number of hunts each season ruined by another hunter on public than I get satisfaction from “challenging myself” more by hunting public land. Whenever I get bored of that, I’ll see you public land warriors out in the field a lot more often. Until then, I’ll enjoy undisturbed hunts and driving a truck or tractor to within 50 yards of the dead deer, and I’ll enjoy it with ZERO shame whatsoever! This is supposed to be enjoyable, not stressful, so if hunting private land maximizes your enjoyment, go for it!!

That’s it, that’s the good stuff.

More than us, only 6'ish here. It looked like Chautauqua County was getting the brunt of it on radar.
It stalled over us in a band from about Ripley to Hamburg. We've had a good winter overall though I can't complain.

Probably two to three more inches of accumulation last night/this am. My daughter is in ski club and she said the Peak is rippin'

We got about 6 inches last night. Might have to swap to the winter tires on my fat bike and get out and play a little.

I water-swatted 3 coot this morning after my quick before-work sit produced nothing but some teal flying way the heck away from me. I then fried their gizzards with fish fry and bacon grease and washed it down with an 8:15am beer. Then I clocked into my computer and proceeded to pass myself off as a learned and cultured advisor of promising up-and-coming academic minds. I wonder what my students would think of me if they realized I was a fat, day-drinking, coot-shooter who would rather be watching his chickens fuss in the yard than answer their questions.

Oh man, I love to hear and more importantly watch the banjo being played. To me, that is a skillset few ever obtain but I know nothing about them... its just like a great fiddle player...That's raw talent IMHO.

Here are some buddies and I shamelessly incorporating the lesser-loved stringed instruments into some southern rock.
Sound/video quality not fantastic, but...
