The official saddle hunting fanny pack /lumbar pack thread

I have the Amazon round up going…wife is about to have a fit…Alps little bear & pathfinder, tenzing hangtime and flex. Hangtime is really nice size and quality is very apparent. Pathfinder is has big pros (daypack, bow/rifle carry, size/modularity) and big cons (sticks way out the back, no bottom cinch straps, pockets covered by straps, no structure, def not the same quality of materials as tenzing). The little bear is…little, but seems big enough to hold everything needed. The flex delivers tomorrow…pray I survive it :tearsofjoy:
The little bear held everything I needed and what I liked best about it is that it is a featherweight compared to the others.

I like the little bear in conjunction with a chest rig I built. But I been known to modify everything I own so stay tune to my newest creation. Just got to find time to complete my new rig

Any word on the Trophyline lumbar pack? I find myself staring at the Kifaru line up hoping that it will go out of stock soon. Luckily their pricepoint for a lumbar pack keeps me from completing my order each time.

Really wanted to try the Tinzeng 1250, but can't find one ANYWHERE! Looks like they may have discontinued them? I bought an Alps Pathfinder and am anxious to get it rigged out. I will post some picks with my Predator XL and Hawk Heliums attached once I get it set up. Great thread!!!

My wife just bought me the same one. It is in the mail...hopefully. I think it'll work will with my mission and EWO one stick. I am kind of anxious to see how it'll work with the bigger pack unfolded with cold/wet weather gear.

How’s pathfinder working out @Crawdaddy4? I’m leaning that way. Need a pack to carry predator xl, three 30" helium sticks (may cut these down), and a few essentials for a day hunt. I'm in FL so no need for extra layers. I like the idea of strapping bow and platform on pack and carrying sticks when walking in dark and then carrying bow and strapping sticks and platform to pack when I may get a shot opportunity on way to/from hunting spot.

The muley pack from Wilderness Pack Specialties, it is bullet proof, hands down the best lumbar pack I have ever used, made in the USA, the owners are great people, almost every buddy of mine that has handled it orders one. I don’t use it for saddle hunting but I did try my predator platform just to see if it would fit and it did no problem.

Do the belt and straps detach?

I've got a nice assault pack for my .5, but am seeing that the bigger lumbar packs could kill 2 birds with 1 stone: Full lumbar pack to use with a platform, as well as the detached bag to hang on a .5. The short height of the lumbar packs is perfect for the .5, and the extra depth gives more capacity at little cost in weight.

Frankly, the Kifaru Scout has had my attention, but I missed the big sale on them. @enkriss, have you tried your Hellcat with the .5?

Anyone run one of these?

No I don’t think so Plebe but I will check when I get home and let you know if it does, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t.

I haven’t tried it

I'm switching to a lumbar/ fanny pack this year. Just ordered the Badlands Monster. It took me weeks of searching and debating and flip flopping on which one to get. FYI, if any of you are first responders/ military/ other miscellaneous professions, you may qualify for 40% off Badlands gear. One big reason I went with their pack. That and the lifetime guarantee. I can't wait to try it. I can't stand getting to my tree and having my back soaked in sweat from a pack heating me up. Plus I don't usually carry enough stuff to warrant a whole backpack.

Thanks for the heads up on the discount! I may be selling a couple of Tenzings for one of those…

I don't see this on their site. Is it through a 3rd party?

Google "expert voice". Similar to GovX but better. For example, with Badlands on EV, you get a 40% off code to use on their site. With GovX they only offered a few bags from Badlands at a 20% discount. FYI 40% off Vortex optics as well.

Anyone run a alps little bear ? Seems like what I might be looking for. How are their zippers and bag material.

I have the Big Bear. I don't use it for saddle hunting. Mainly for scouting, stalking, and in ladder stands. Its great. The zippers are smooth and don't get caught. Love the expandable top portion. I usually stuff my rain jacket in there and roll it up. It has tons of room. I'm stil waiting on my platform to come in. Once it does I will try to set it up where I can mount my sticks from the molle loops and then the platform on the shoulder straps.

Anything out there on the Trophyline Platow?

Kinda waiting to see the specs on that before deciding between it, the Badlands Monster, and the Tenzing Hangtime Lumbar.

The Alps Little Bear is an option too. Wins on price, but I love the rigid, hold their shape design of the above two.

So I gave in and got a badlands monster. Is anyone packing sticks on this setup ? I have 4 novix minis I’m thinking of strapping onto the bottom.

Eberlestock tailhook. They don’t make it anymore. First season with it though got it off an auction for st Jude. Absolutely love it. Pack is well thought out and made for tree hunters.
