"The Official Saddle Hunting Turkey Vest Thread"

Has anyone used the new M2 "built like a tank" turkey vest that can offer feedback? Trying to see if its just me complaining about the pocket layout and comfort factor. I don't own one, but I was able to use one.

Here are some thoughts:
Good:
1. Material is nice and construction is nice.
2. Fit is for average sized humans as well as pro wrestlers
3. US made

Bad:
1. Pockets do not accommodate a box call. Its an awkward struggle at best.
2. Seat. Good for 30 minutes and it flops when cinched (minor annoyance).

Ugly:
1. Comfort. Inadequate seat and lack of back padding make for an uncomfortable sit. Lack of adequate box pocket boggles the mind.

Conclusion: Pass. Call pockets (box call) are not for me. Seat and back pad need to be addressed imo.

I wondered about the M2, the problem with all of these hybrid concepts vests where you want to buy one thing to do everything...... seems to never really work. I watched one of the THP podcasts where they were talking about the M2 Vest and also calling in general..... not many of them at all are big numbers of calls guys..... it appears that most of them run mouth diaphragms and a pot and peg. Which is minimalist and fine but I like a change up available and probably the old timer in me just thinks you have have a box call. Anyway, with that being said, I've not caried a box call now in several years either because I just don't use them that much anymore. But I agree, a full blown turkey vest should have a good box call pocket with protection of the call and a confortable seat of some kind.

That makes sense. They designed it around what they wanted. Different strokes and all that. Yes it’s bulkier than a mouth call, but I really like running a box especially for striking one up. The photo on their site shows a box in the pocket, but the pocket is open. There’s a reason for that. Just wish companies would be a little more genuine with their marketing.

Don’t get me started on the “I’m a minimalist” marketing.

I don't like the design of the vest at all, but furthermore I cannot get over the price. After working in 3 manufacturing facilities, I believe definitively that just because it's made here does not equate to a better product. The majority of the people I've worked with do not care 1 iota about the quality of the product being sent to customers our quality technicians included. All they want is that paycheck at the end of the day. It's a 150$ vest tops. Their pack is equally comically overpriced

I got the Midway USA Full Strut vest in the mail today. Got it loaded up but it’s raining so I haven’t had a chance to use it climbing. Seems like it’s going to work well for me. Going to run it this year before I decide if I want to send it to CGM for the modifications they do.

Currently over 50% off. I use a K&H R&G 200, but for $30, I might have to pick one of these up!

I’ve been tinkering with my vest for the past few weeks. I’m starting to wonder why I haven’t used a turkey vest for whitetail hunting all these years . Did a mod today for carry some layers. Paracord loops with cobra weave slider/retainers. Can’t take credit for the idea. I saw this mod using some time ago ranger beads instead of the cobra weave but couldn’t get them to hold tight enough. Works very well!
