The Truth About Florida’s Deer Rut

Seems pretty accurate

I’m in central FL and have killed bucks chasing does on opening day of bow season mid September 45 min East from my house

And then killed bucks chasing does during first 2 wks of February about 1hr -1hr 15min SW of my house

I've seen spotted fawns in September and in February on the same WMA. Deer brought in from different places and the lack of a winter has our deer all messed up.

I live in eastern Pasco County and have seen the vast majority of bucks in my area in Feb. I guess it is accurate in my area.
Unfortunately in all but about 2 cases I was sitting on my Ultra Classic not in a tree...

saw my first fawn on camera 3/14/20 which when you back calculate ~200 days is 8/27/19. I also saw some very small fawns today in the same area as well as a few huuuuge does that haven't dropped them yet. So this makes breeding dates in northern Palm Beach County late August through early October during 2019, which is pretty close to the map above!

I grew up hunting JW Corbett and Dupuis. Great memories. Moved to North Central Florida 20 years ago. I bought 10 acer with big oaks and built a brand new 3/2 house. All for 140,000. Can't do that in Palm Beach County. That's why I left.

NE Marion County. Fort McCoy Area. I've been here almost 20 years now. If I move it would be to Brooker or La Crosse. Really beautiful land, low population and Gainesville is near by for work. My property is nice, but I have too many neighbors.

Born and raised in Jupiter...live in Jupiter Farms now for 20+ years. Dupuis is still really nice but Corbett isn't much anymore. Beautiful woods but don't expect to see much unless you've got a nice buggy to get way off the beaten path! Stuck here for work and family for at least another 15 years!

It is! Back in the 90's, I spent 10 years working for DEP at the time catching snook and tagging them for their population studies... Spent every possible moment in Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets tagging 1K to 2K adult snook with hook and line between June and August each summer. Didn't pay hardly anything but it was awesome!
