The Wingman One Stick System

Alcohol for cutting fluid and you’ll be good to go. Measure to center and try and keep everything straight. It doesn’t take much to get off. Drill with a small bit first to hit center and work your way up to the final size you need.

Thanks for the reply folks! This has been very helpful!

I just discovered that a lot of people are throwing out climbing sticks altogether, and using platforms + aiders to climb instead. Have any of you tried this method?

Yes, it is basically the same as one sticking. I used the treehopper treesuit whick is a solid non folding platform and it worked really well for this climbing style. I am not sure I would want to fool with a folding platform to climb with.

One of the things I didn’t like about the Wingmanis that it doesn’t fold, so I figured it might be hard to pack it

I’ve seen a few videos and posts of people using folding platforms to climb too. This way a bigger platform can be used and would have the added benefit of being easy to pack. Haven’t tried it out tho, everything is just speculation

The scout is a lot smaller when compared with The Predator Platform or the EDP. How is the comfort level when using this platform

It’s all relative to the user. The angle is very ergonomic and comfortable for me. I used it all last season. Some people like the additional foot room but I don’t think it’s necessary. The flat platforms are not comfortable to me. Everything is a trade off.

Absolutely, I made the daisy chains myself, and made them 6+ feet long. I found the stock straps were too short for the bases of some of the trees I wanted to climb. There are a few tricks to get them super tight as well. For instance with the stick on the tree and say a loop goes over the button with ease the chain will sag a bit before it locks into the tree. If you take the stick and turn it slightly horizontally to get the shaft of the stick closer to the tree, put the closer loop that previously didn't reach over the button and then rotate the stick back into climbing position starting from the top stand off and then pull out and over the lower standoff into position, It will be rock solid with very minimal sag if any at all. I know that was kinda hard to explain but hope it made sense.
Have you actually tried this while climbing? Because what you described works great for multiple sticks (same with a truckers hitch which is a better option imo). Hanging above the stick and undoing this just doesn't seem like an efficient way to climb. You'd have to twist the stick back and pull the daisy chain off at the same time.

Could this be used with daisy chains instead of a versa button or a cam cleat on a one stick setup for faster moves ?

I tried to get one but Catalyst ignored my order, so I made my own with a beast versa button and some sugru. Works pretty smooth imo with a cam buckle.

I was lucky to get a few of them early on.
I’ve used them some and daisy chains do come off it easy and fast.

I have tried this climbing and as you mentioned it's not easy when one sticking and I feel not necessary. I have 2 setups, 3 cut down hawk helium's with daisy chains and a single stick with daisy chain. When using the hawks I use my technique to get the sticks as tight to the tree as possible. When single sticking I just put the loop that fits the easiest on and let it sag. When I'm hanging and reaching down to unhook the stick that slack makes removal really easy. Once at hunting height I revert back to my technique to get the stick tight as possible to the tree since I'll be standing on it for hours.
