Thermacell?

I just depend on my heavily permethrin-saturated clothing so I don’t have to carry an extra piece of equipment. A cousin of permethrin called allethrin is the active ingredient in Thermacell anyway. My clothing kills everything that lands on me (except wolf spiders apparently). I think overall we have worse problems with ticks and chiggers than we do with mosquitoes, but my wife’s ankles and collarbone would disagree with me. It’s really dependent upon the swampiness of whichever location I’m hunting that day, but I never have to swat a skeeter more than once before my permethrin helps make the point. Even though we have similar temperatures and extreme humidity all year, I think we’re still a bit more skeeter-free than some of our neighbors a bit further south. Our tick and chigger issues will never subside though.

I own a Thermacell but have never used it. This year our area has been hit by Eastern Equine Encephalitis which is a carried by mosquitoes and several people in our area have died as a result. So much that local schools are scheduling football games earlier to try to get them in before dusk when the mosquitoes come out. So until the first heavy frost, I'm thinking about using mine to keep the mosquitoes away once Michigan's bow season opens on Oct. 1st.
Anyway, since I've never used one before, how do you all set it up in the tree? Don't they have to lay flat to work well? Show me what you do with yours in the tree....
