Tide for cover sent

OK, I want to throw another variable into this equation. Monday morning while my buddy and I were hunting he was chewing on some sort of nicotine gum that smelled very much like juicy fruit. I thought he would spook every deer within a mile. About 8:15 we had three does walk to within 5 yards of the blind. They circled us and ended up downwind at about 12 yards. The lead doe walked back towards the blind and was obviously sniffing the air. I don’t chew gum but I may start.
Nicorette is the devil, I’ve never smoked but got hooked on that for a long while. We used to chew Levi Garrett at deer camp, I thought I’d try something “healthier” the problem with that is it’s too tasty, and too convenient.

You guys are late to this party! I've been using Tide for several years because I like the smell and have seen zero difference in deer activity or getting busted. I also use Old Spice Stonger Swagger antiperspirant (pits, groin, and feet). Neither product has anything to do with the deer I see or don't see because I always hunt the wind, just as I did when using all the hunting sales gimmicks like scent eliminator sprays, scentlok, and lures. Keep buying those if it makes you feel better, but my deer are dying just fine without all the scent bs!

Ya know, this is how I feel. I moved to AZ a decade ago from OH and when I was introduced to western style hunting, I realized that all my scentlok and scent eliminating products were completely useless. Everyone plays the wind out there and for obvious reasons since they don't sit in one spot all day. Before moving out west and I bought all the scent products, you name it and I had it. Thought it was necessary since you saw it on all the shows and in the magazines.

Since moving back east to VA, the only scent "thing" that I do is keep all my hunting clothes and saddle/ropes in a big rubbermaid that has those Fresh Earth scent wafers inside. Aside from that, I wash everything with Tide (I have always used Tide) and I check wind religiously in the field (just like I did out west) and because I am hunting from a saddle, I choose a tree that favors the wind direction against where I think (hope/think, haha) the deer will be coming from. While in the tree I keep checking wind through my whole sit so I know where my scent is going and if deer are seen in that direction, I can plan accordingly. Same goes for those that show upwind of me.
