Timbertrail E-bike

I bought a Rambo 750 last summer on clearance. The concept is great and when the bike works,it's a game changer for the way I hunt.It hasn't been without it's problems though.Last spring I ordered a M2S ultra and just got it a few weeks ago.It was $2600 delivered and so far it's been awesome. The Bafand ultra motor is an absolute beast and the rest of the bike is holding up extremely well.Very hoghly recommended.

Did you buy the ultra hard tail or the model with rear suspension? I’ve been looking at them as well.

An update here on the troubles im having with the Timber Trails purchase.I contacted them about the front fork being junk at 135 miles.Told them my neighbor has a Radrover with 2145 miles on it with no issues.I was told they had not had any issues with the forks but said they would send a new one.# weeks went by with no fork and no word.So i contacted them again and the guy tells me his partner is sending it that day.Said he had to check his inventory for a match, and asked me for my address to save his partners time.2 red flags,,you need 3 weeks to check inventory? And you dont have something as simple as a roledex to retain the name, address and info on what the customer purchased? My fears were realized.Received the fork 7 days later. It is a used one. They did not even clean it up!!!And the caliper mount is totally different.I tried to contact them,no response,no phone call no email.Late Elk and deer open in 5 days and i need the bike to get to my stand sites.I happen to have a lathe/milling machine and some aluminum stock and was able to fabricate an adapter and will test ride it today.I cannot recommend the company to anyone. When i purchased the bike i had to fix the throttle. It was not working and i got their permission to get in to the wiring and i found cheap connectors, some of which had been coated with silicon and i soon realized why. They were having trouble with the pins backing out in the male side of the plug.I found the problem with the throttle was just that. A faulty connector.I repaired it.All this tells me there is no quality control. If they had simply put the bike on a stand and tested the controls it would have been handled before it was shipped to me...All around a bad experience.

I plan to get the radrover step Thur and the Rambo upgraded controller. The boss (aka the wife) approved this purchase lol soon as I get back to work full time. Started back this week just a few days a week. Hopefully within the next few weeks I’ll be ordering one. They have been on back order tho must be pretty popular. Will post my thoughts on it when I get it. From the research I’ve done I don’t think ya can go wrong with a rad bike.
My neighbor likes his rad,has over 2100 miles on it.The upgraded controller may be a good thing but it may also void your warranty.Along with the other problems i have had with the Timbertrails ebike quality control i have found hills i cannot climb that my neighbor can.The motors are the same. The difference seems to be in the controllers, there being 2 of them on the Timbertrails.I think the motors are capable of putting out much more torque then the controllers are allowing.

I can't remember what brand the "Born and Raised" guys use on there elk hunts but their bikes are always breaking it seems, chains especially. They are truly off-road so IDK.
You guys have and issues with breakage?

I just used a bakcou flat lander on a 7 day out of state hunt. Everyone else in our group used an ebike to get around as well. Rambo, bakcou, and a couple DIY bikes. The flat lander did well but struggled on steep hills. It is a 9speed hub drive bike.

Most people didn’t have any issues with their bikes the whole trip. A few of the 3 speed 750w rambos seemed to really struggle in the hills without peddling most of the time. One guy had issues with his chain on his Rambo. The only issue I had was the main power supply cable worked itself free and became unplugged twice. Easy fix would be just to wrap that connection with electrical tape so it can’t wiggle free.

Also many of us were using gator grips for our bow holder and most if not all abandoned them within a day or two because they are just too abusive on your gear. A couple of us lost pieces of our bow. I lost the little containment arm for my drop away test (not the launcher arm) and my back bar QD mount bolt worked it’s way free.

Otherwise it was awesome and fun to drive around. Probably a part of what made the trip so fun was just fooling around on the eBikes. If it’s legal and you have the coin I’d say it’s a super fun toy to own! I can’t wait to take mine to trout streams in Northern Michigan next spring and summer!

I'd like to have one, really cool ideal but dang 4-5k for a bike, heck no!

I might buy a motor/battery kit and try my own out

I paid $2500 for my bakcou. There are cheaper options out there for sure. After you invest in motor and battery you’re not too far off from a fully built bike already. Just something to think about.

I have a mt bike already so that part is over but some kits I see are $350-500 but the quality I have no ideal about.

The cheapest duo is $1300. The battery is more than half that retail. And that battery is likely better than what you are buying.
Plus the cheapest one has a torque and cadence sensor and hydraulic brakes
It will have more range than a $500 kit

If I'm paying that much for a e-bike I would get a 1000 watt mid-drive for sure. I have a 750 hub drive e-bike and I like it and it does well on hills after I put a bigger controller on it. My next bike will be a 1000 watt mid-drive .

I'm 100% confident you are correct on yours being 100% better but where I hunt on public a mile back would be halfway so range really isn't a big deal, heck really battery power isn't a big deal but it's cool so I'd like to give it a go

It is true if you have hills a mid drive will be better

I ordered a mid drive, I have a 5 year old hub drive just 500 watts and it takes me up any hill around here if I pedal and shift down. But my hills are not mountains they are short and sometimes short steep hills
I ordered a HD Ultra Duo - 1000 watt mid drive.

If you don’t have big hills and a limited budget the hub drive worked for me for five years
