This sums it up.Shooting a Traditional bow from a saddle beats the heck out of shooting from a tree stand. You don't have to worry about the lower limb hitting your stand or the tree.
Do you shoot with a cant or straight up? I tried a recurve in a saddle in my yard. Too much poundage. I was amazed at how much harder it was.Shooting a Traditional bow from a saddle beats the heck out of shooting from a tree stand. I typically cant my bow but don't really give it any thought, I just shoot....Do you shoot with a cant or straight up? I tried a recurve in a saddle in my yard. Too much poundage. I was amazed at how much harder it was.
I thought i was good to go at 45#s but the saddle exposed my weaness.

Me too. This will be my first year doing it. Lots of folks on here do it and do it only.
Any more comments on this topic? Specifically the offside shot using a platform.
That is a good tip. I have found that really leaning foward out away from the tree is helpful. Never had to do that with my compound.Make a habit of really leaning in to your shot. Shooting off my left side I plant my knee so that my entire shin is in contact with the tree. That gives me great control. Easier to do with ROS .Not so much with a platform.
Im also considering giving a ROS anther try now that Im shooting a trad bow.
