Congrats, let’s get some specs. Arrow weight, poundage, draw length? That doesn’t look like a tremendous amount of penetration. Obviously enough to get the job done.Opening morning Ky filling the freezer!!!View attachment 70546
The arrow was all the way in the opposite shoulder! I pulled it back out it locked the deer up and never went anywhere!! Shot at 12 yards from 18ft up. I'm using a 700 gr arrow with EFOC 28inch shift 55lb slick stick longbow. 3to1 / 1 1/8 Grizzly Bruin 125 single edge with 200gr insert.Congrats, let’s get some specs. Well that is interesting. Wonder if it was the humerus. I think on the whole as an archery community we would be better served not using the term shoulder. If you hit the scapula and didn’t pop out the other side I’d personally be disappointed with the results. If you hit humerus and broke it, but didn’t exit I’d still personally be a little bummed but not shocked. Sorry to get all critical on your victory post. A genuine congrats. I just think these are learning opportunities. The arrow was all the way in the opposite should! I pulled it back out it locked the deer up and never went anywhere!! Shot at 12 yards from 18ft up. The arrow went in on a hard angle and broke the offside shoulder. I killed my 9pt the same way and this buck a few years ago.View attachment 70611View attachment 70611From the angle it is stuck in I would have bet it stopped in the offside shoulder. Thanks for the specifics.
Scapula or humerus? This is a better picture the arrow was in a lot deeper. I had to pull it out with both hands but the shoulder was definitely broken the deer dropped and stayed in the same spotView attachment 70615.
I will need to look it's hanging in my deer cooler with the hide on. I just cut the leg at the joints and the head. I'm in my stand now.Scapula or humerus?

Also, we’re going to need a post on the deer cooler.I will need to look it's hanging in my deer cooler with the hide on. I just cut the leg at the joints and the head. I'm in my stand now.
This is why I like single bevel broadheads. Look at the hole in that deer. Needing an exit for a better blood trail is moot if blood pours out of the entrance hole. The arrow went in on a hard angle and broke the offside shoulder. Ribs and Scapula only!! On opposite shoulder the Grizzly Bruin 2 3/4 L ×1 1/8 W single bevel punched have way through and stopped in the scapula. I'm shooting a 55lb@28 I'm only 25in DL so probably 48lbs.Scapula or humerus?
