Traditional bow Kills 2025-26

One of my latest endeavors is to film a hunt and put the video on you tube, skull mount the trophy, make a plaque with the QR code for the you tube link to the hunt. That's one of my goals this year!
So I changed my mind a few times, I settled on building a frame that I can hang his antlers from that has a nice photo and in it. Just wanted something different. I’ll post it up later this season.

Look forward to seeing it, buddy! Good luck this season!

I was starting to wonder if I was going to get to add my name to this list. ;)
As luck would have it, I'm officially tagged out, in my county. I'd have to hunt elsewhere, if I were to go after another one. However, I've got meat in my freezer and I'm happy to be done. Perhaps now, I can have some time to go after some coyotes.

Anyway... I shot this doe at 10 yards, from my new XOP Ion and my Cruzr XC tree saddle. I was shooting a 19" Satori riser with Uukha Gobi short limbs, at 45#. Gold Tip HunterXT 500 spine at 29" with a 200 gr. Steel Force 4-blade Hellfire broadhead. I watched her run in a big 60 yard loop and fell down dead. Apparently, the shot angle was slightly quartering away, enough so that I center punched the heart.

Congrats man! Heck of a shot!

On quick update, found him in 30seconds. So he was dead on his feet 40yds after the shot tons of blood sprayed in the snow. Then tipped & slid 100plus yds. So the eyes I saw last night on the trail we another deer not mine. Bad news coyotes destroyed him, they made it into the body cavity through the hind qtrs & then pissed all over him! No meat salvage, I’ve never seen anything like it that fast. I’m pretty upset about the whole deal……. I know it was the right call given the evidence at the time. I’ve pushed deer from this spot & had some tough recoveries.
My shot missed the mark by about 2.5” I picked a hair just behind his shoulder but snuck it just in front. He was slightly quartering to & full pass through exited offside armpit!

Oh, man that stinks but I still say you made the right call. I would have done the same with the same info. I lost a doe to coyotes last year when I decided to back out. I still stand by my call to back out, but it still stinks.

I know I stand by the call & think I’d do it again….. but you REALLY second guess yourself when you waste one!! The one detail was it was last light & snow on everything I lost my white fletchings in my sight picture on the way to the buck. So I knew by sound I had good impact, I’m just new at the audible cues with a trad bow….. it’s so quiet! Compound is a loud explosion in your hand & loud pop as arrow contacts deer. All 3 of my trad kills have been just a thud & not much noise at impact… all have been inside 20yds. 1 pass through & 2 stuck in offside shoulder. I’m going to get better at this!!!!!!!!!

Man you’re doing great this year with the stick bow. I hate you found him the way you did. It’s a bitter sweet but still a little better than not finding him at all. Should be a confidence boost on your trad shot though knowing you hit him well.
