quick question I shoot a 70'' long bow, and I'm just curious if there is any issues shooting a 70'' long bow from a saddle? I'm new to saddle hunting so I have no clue, I'm walking a razors edge on getting a saddle and trying it,I'm 6'9 and 250 lbs I was looking at the cruzr xc or the latitude method 2 xl any info or advice will sure help on which way I fall off that edge! to try one or not, and on which saddle might work better for my size, I live in the west and don't know any one around here that uses a saddle to try

Thanks for the help

It can be done but you need to get in tree in saddle and practice your angles. Many of us shoot trad out of saddles but maybe not that long LOL. Trust your saddle ! Practice practice method 2 is nice but look into transformer saddle plenty of adjustments the owner and designer @JCLINE84 is a large guy not as tall and he shoots trad out of his saddles

Thanks Razorbak66, I think I saw that saddle on youtube,I didn't realize there were so many to pick from,
a lot of money not knowing if it will work for me

My 64” recurve is too long for me to comfortably shoot out of a saddle. I will hunt off the ground or a ladder stand with that one but when I know I may climb a tree I take my 54”. I know there are guys who can shoot a long longbow out of a saddle but you’re definitely going to have to practice.

From my experience I wouldn’t be comfortable shooting anything over 60”. There’s just not room to maneuver that much bow up there without a ton of movement.

Yes it might be a few bucks but honestly a lot of the newer saddles out there run about the same but with practice and for someone your size I feel you can make it work as your reach is a lot longer than many of us. If you like I can loan you a 2 panel saddle to try out you pay shipping it won’t be my transformer as that’s my pride and joy and @JCLINE84 made that especially for me but I have some that are similar I made. Key is to practice and learn what your able to do or not able

I only shoot 64 inch trad bows these days and have zero issues shooting from a saddle. It’s easier than a tree stand in my opinion because you don’t have to worry about the bottom limb hitting anything

I was shooting my 70" target bow yesterday and would not want it up in a saddle or tree stand, too long. I have a 29.75" draw and find that a 64" bow is the right compromise for maneuverability and stacking/smoothness.

Hey guys thanks a bunch for all your help and time I sure appreciate it! I thought about putting on work gear and climbing a power pole just to see if it's doable, Razorbak66 thanks for the offer the use of your saddle, but I think I'm going to try to
pick up one of those notch saddles for 50.00 bucks and giving it a try, if the longbow wont work I will try my 66'' recurve,
so if you know anyone that wants to sell there notch have them whistle at me the floating D size 2 if I have no issues than I will look at purchasing the Transformer or the Latitude method, thanks again for all the help

If you can shoot it from the ground you certainly can shoot from a saddle. Lean in to the shot to clear your bridge. That also gives you proper shot alignment.
