Just got home to to a package from Mark at Treehopper. ANOTHER new belt option! This is the speed buckle you now see on their website. Holy crap, this is a home run. I can cinch the sling down tight like a belt, it's easynot lose to hang, and it comes apart. I love it.
Mark really doesn't stop till he gets something just right- and gets the updates out to the customers. Guys, you are all going to be psyched with this new belt!!!

Mark sent me an email about a week or so ago telling me about the new belt. He included a video of it's use. I think he's got a winner there. I should be getting one any day now!!

Which bridge do you guys like on that sling. Do you think making a Tethrd bridge would be better than the webbing

I went out last night and tried my new Recon Sling for about an hour. Our season is closed so I just hung out in the in the woods to get the feel of it. I think my Kestrel is more comfortable if I can get it in just the right "sweet spot" but I've got many hours in the old Anderson Tree Sling and I'm sure once I get more used to the Recon, it will be all good. That will likely wait until next season, I suppose....

I think Mark should be calling it the Recon Saddle instead of a sling because when people google saddles, it may get missed in the search.

I have the adjustable webbing bridge. Since I 1 stick, I think that the tethrd amsteel adjustible would work better. That was not a thing when I ordered mine. The plates are different with webbing vs amsteel. Hole vs webbing slot.

I've got the sling with the amsteel plates and LOVE it. I also did the Tethrd Bridge with it. Best combo I've found. You can actually tighten the bridge enough to use it as your belt on the walk in. Screenshot_20200123-173806_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200115-211644_Gallery.jpg

@Vtbow it looks like he found a strong simple buckle that should work well while keeping the costs down. @rakbowhunter why the knots in the amsteel?

THAT is an understatement!
I know first hand after dozens of lengthy phone conversations with him. The tiny (and sometimes not so tiny) details that he insisted to get just right often had me laying awake at night trying to come up with solutions.
The man strives for perfection. This sling won't be the last thing we are talking about. He is already 10 steps ahead.

Yes, and it has a much smaller footprint than a cobra buckle which I had been using son you can get it much tighter.

How can you not be happy with Mark. I haven't even had the chance to do anything with either of the other belt options he has sent out. This appears to be the best option.
I was kind of kicking myself for doing the webbing bridge since the utilibridge craze. Seems like that bridge in the setup easily solves the belt issue like shown above.
I agree Mark is a great guy to support. I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of those crotch rockets.

Great thing about the new belt is it's so easy to take on/off depending on whether you want to use it or not.
It's also light, and super small footprint so you can get it nice and tight, and don't feel it when bending at the waist liken you do a 2" cobra buckle.

I just bought one of these. I have no idea if it'll suit my needs or not, but the return policy allows me to give it a try.

If I'm reading the description correctly, all I need to add is a bridge to use it. Am I understanding this correctly?

Any idea on lead times?

Anything else I don't know about using this versus a traditional saddle?

Thanks!

I believe if you got the webbing plates, it comes with a bridge. I received the amsteel plates. At the time I ordered, there was no bridge with it, but a length of amsteel was included for me to splice myself.

Lead times would normally be fast but Mark is at the Harrisburg show until next Sunday so there could be a slight delay, but not much of one.
There are a few tips that make it easier to visualize and understand. It does look a little confusing at first but don't sweat it. In a few minutes it will make sense.
I made a video that should help. Let me find the link and I will attach it.
