Tree lounge foot piece climbing platform

I agree, it would pack easier. But that is it. I've seen too many lwhc fold up on people. So I'll stick with this.
Not trying to sway you to the lwhc. Just wondering if there is a way to make the tree lounge pack up better. I do agree that it's safer than the lwhc. It has a lot of potential that's for sure

If a person wanted to out a hinge system on it to fold, yes. But this would just make it heavier and louder. I'm pleased with the way it is myself. But it's not for everyone or every situation.

Here’s 2 versions on SolidWorks. The large one is the one we’ve built and tried out extensively. The smaller one is in the works.

Thanks for sharing those. The bigger one is the original Tree Lounge size, what I have now. You nailed what I was planning to do with the smaller size. I also want to try more C channel (like my X-stand) and angle aluminum versus the square tubing for additional weight reduction.

What method do you use to adjust the bar on the back side of the tree? Is there ever a need to adjust it mid climb?
This is no different than setting up any other climber. You must set the angle at the bottom and predict how much it will change at height. For my use now and in the past, I find that setting it almost flat at the bottom allows for a good angle at height. I see no need to adjust mid climb, never have for any climbers and I have used more than I can remember.

Thanks for the response. Using the lwhc I've had to adjust mid climb a couple times. Not the end of the world but not ideal.

There isn't any reason on why you would want to adjust it. It won't fold up on you like the lwhc if you don't.
Actually you aren't standing on a platform per se' you stand on a bar so the angle really doesn't make a lot of difference.

I’ve adjusted mid climb once before, and said i would never try that again! It was tricky, and i risked being stuck in the tree like a cat waiting on the fire truck. This scenario was due to climbing a tree in a dry slough bed where the base of the tree was quite large (like slough trees tend to do in bottomland) and the tree got pretty small about 10 ft up. When i got up to about 10-12 ft, the climber was angled down a lot because i didnt take into account the drastic change in the tree’s diameter.

I have the same climbers and have been contemplating cutting down my bottom section the same as you. Which do you feel climbs better the original LWHC top or the modified bottom. My top climbs great after doing the bolt mod to it and I'm not worried about it breaking, but curious before I cut my base down if it is really a viable option in comparison to the top?

Well this was just a test for me as I’m actually turning this into a home made assassin platform.I tried the hand climber top last year with bolt mod and I feel that the cut bottom section was much easier to climb with and was more sturdy up at height.. I’m going to play around with this set up and see how it goes and what comes out this spring. But it would be a good option I feel especially if someone wanted to be able to switch back and forth.. with removing one bolt and adding the cloning parts back on you could use it as a climbing method against

Looks pretty similar to the old Loggy hand climber top part. I have a couple laying around, might have to break them out.
It's different from it. This has a bar to stand on to climb were the loggy didn't. Unless if there is a different version I never seen.
