Tree Styx

Both but the stand offs are more important.

The standoffs reduce noise but also tighten tolerances so the sticks packed tighter
 
So just along the fatness running along the inside of the v-bracket? Anyone have a pic
 
Maybe this is an extremely dense idea but does anyone think something like the Versa Aider might work with Treestyx? I never thought twice with beast sticks because it's all metal but the thought had cross my mind to give this a try.

4 pack of tree styx in route. Anyone running these with a hybrid ranger? Currently have a fix but considering a larger platform.

I am using the Ranger with the Tree Styx and Eberlestock X2 backpack. Works retty slick. Just like this but not using the LWCG sticks for the last couple of days. Swapped them out and put the Tree Styx on the bottom of the pack. Works well.

This morning I had an extremely unsettling incident my third stick up. I tied it like I always do, and when I put weight on it, it came undone and my lineman instantly caught me, and was able to lower myself onto the stick below. Thankfully I wasn't hurt.

I immediately assumed I screwed something up, so I looked over it and retied it again. Again it slipped. Only thing that's different is the rope is damp. I tied a knot after I set it to prevent slipping again and that did the job.

I’m curious about the circumstances when this happened. How did it “come undone”? Did tag end of the rope slip out? Were you climbing a large tree and using the end of the rope? Is it possible you’re tying it in a way that not the “correct” attachment method? Jamie at treestyx has a definite correct way to tie the stick to the tree. I ask all this so anyone reading can avoid mistakes or at least learn how to prevent it from happening to them. Thank you.

I've tied these 1000x and never had a problem. When you come to the final step and pull the tag end back under the rope and set the stick, the pressure from under the versa button and rope did not bind to the tag end rope. It just slipped.

Going to see if I can recreate it when I get home

Maybe the ropes need replacing every season.

I had the same thing happen on a wet beech tree. My ropes weren't what I considered wet except for contact with the tree. This is my second set and I never had this happen. My best guess was I made some type of upward movement on the stick
