Trotlines

I definitely see the benefit of being able to remove and reattach the drop lines. What are other option beside the clips?.....HD snap swivel?

@swampsnyper used a continuous loop in one of his videos and simply ran it through the swivels to attach and remove the lines.

I had 20 baits taken and 5 left this morning. No fish. I ran out of line and couldn’t get across the creek with the premade line. I tied the end down with a rock but it must not have been heavy enough.

I can’t understand that unless there just isn’t any catfish or it’s full of turtles.
But you would eventually catch a turtle. Probably plenty small fish picking you clean.
Are you in shallow water.

Going to change locations and try it again soon. I just wish I had time to check the lines in the morning.

Ever tried catching gar on a piece of rope? Its an interesting technique. Here’s a link to a N. Alabama guy explaining his way.

I personally don't like catching them but if the kids are going out with me I think I will rig up a pole like that...

Not yet....I keep missing. After seeing all those fish yesterday, I think il stay taking the bow on the canoe trips. Ive only used the bow off the bank so far.

I bought these clips to clip weights on my line. They are pretty easy. Designed for salt water fishing so they should be plenty strong. A lot more streamline than the trotline clips. I don’t think they will tangle as bad as the trotline clips. Especially if you have a swivel attached to your main line like I make mine. Having that swivel on your main line free to swivel around your main line and swivel when twist are applied to your drop line, helps keep all the parts inline and working as they are designed. I know those trotline clips if attached directly to your main line can still spin around it, but not as freely as a swivel as I attach them. I think it makes a difference.

It’s hard to shoot fish when you are low to the water. You have to aim very low. Very hard to judge.

Yes I recognize a lot of the general areas. I’ve got a lot to learn fishing. I’d sure like to try some of his techniques just got to find time to fish more!

I repaired everything and yesterday I put out our 2nd set. My son and I checked after work and no damage or missing components. 1 single eater size. Caught a 12-14 inch crappie and a hand size red belly on the rod and reel..no pic unfortunately....practiced catch and release with those 2
