Truck camping: What do you use for heat at night as the seasons gets later?

Under quilt doesn’t compress the insulation underneath you in a hammock like it does in any other situation. A proper hammock setup is like a cocoon.
Ahh, gottcha. Now I understand what you meant.
Maybe rig hammock hanging supports in the truck?? Best of both worlds?
Im in the middle of building my cargo van and I planned on having a raised platform to sleep on. Maybe hanging a hammock would be better in cold weather? Or maybe insulate the UNDERSIDE of a raised platform?

I tent camp but the same principles apply to both. You won’t require a heating source if you have an appropriately rated sleeping bag and pad. I do occasionally use a small buddy heater in the morning when it’s really cold. No one wants to get out of your sleeping bag and get dressed when it’s 15F!

Yes, if can figure out how to insulate under your platform you would get the same benefits. The problems with a hammock in a confined space are length. You need the added length in order to have a chance to lay flat.

Close cell foam pad with a rated down quilt or bag will be toasty if you don’t get in it cold. Build up your body heat and when you get in, it will hold it.

Been thinking on this truck thing and if I was going to do I would make my bed from the mesh the DIY saddles are made from and put an old sleeping bag under and closed cell foam above it and sleep on that. Lightweight and the insulation would be plenty. And since the mesh is flexible so the frame could be made to fold to a third of it size for storage.

I sleep in my enclosed trailer and use a mr. Buddy. I have a co2 and a low o2 monitor separate. And of course leave a window cracked
