First off, I'm not looking for someone to hold my hand and put me under a roosted bird, lol. Get that out of the way before I'm dodging arrows.

I'm planning to hit N MS next week with my son for an out-of-state turkey hunt. We had Sardis or Holly Springs on our radar. It appears Sardis is state land and Holly Springs is Federal.

While I've found information on

- Non resident license
- Non resident turkey permits
- WMA usage fee

I can't find info on camping locations or regulations specific to either of those areas.

Any guidance on the appropriate sources for research is appreciated. And before everyone verifies there are no living turkeys left in MS, we're planning to come anyway.

Thanks ...who knows, I might be willing to trade out some NEA green timber duck hunting next fall. Feel free to direct message me if you are willing to help and don't want to put info here.

We closed turkey season to out of state hunters for COVID 19
Sorry!
Sincerely,
MS Turkey Hunter
P.S.
Perch aren't biting either!
P.P.S
Never ask a guy from Mississippi about his turkeys!
P.P.P.S
You from Arkansas!!!!!

I have seen some core land has shut down. I haven't looked into much public because I hunt private land. In any case I think if it's state owned land it would be on the website( be careful a lot of public is draw hunt only the first few weeks) and check the National Forrest site for closings as well.
If I had to guess they may close down bath houses and stuff like that but who knows.

Lol I hear ya ...I thought the offer for a green timber duck hunting trip might be enough to sway some folks but boy was wrong.

I'm headed to Holly Springs (spoke to regional director and primitive camping is a-ok), and if nothing else, will get some computer and phone 'distancing'!

It will be good to stretch out the legs.

If anyone is around Holly Springs and want's to share a campfire, holler!

If you are going to camp I would try to do the lower lake. Some of the other areas are a little rough. There is a lot of land and a lot of turkeys

Holly springs is a great option as well - I am not too familiar with the camping over there.

Thanks - I'm not familiar with 'lower lakes'. We are planning to go into some of the sections E of Holly Springs and N of I22. Going to study maps a bit today then head out Sun/Mon (Sunday pending weather) and hunt most of next week.
