Ha, coke bottles work just as well and are a lot cheaper than Mec bottles. Come to think of it I think I like them more than mec bottles. They're on my mec sizemaster 20 gauge press.

The SH Membership has gone live. Only SH Members have access to post in the classifieds. All members can view the classifieds. I was able to call three in this morning pretty quick off the roost in the rain. Red dot wasn't much of a dot when I went to shoot, guess I'm lucky to have even got him. 06:50 20 lbs, 9.5" beard, 5/8" spurs.

My wife finished the job today. First bird ever. Put em right down. Somehow called him in right after screaming at a poacher who snuck up behind us. Gave him a few choice words and turned around and kept hunting instead of calling DNR. Glad i did! 30 minutes later ol boy started firing off and came struttin up the hill. 21 lbs 12 in beard. Great opening day! On my way to blackwater refuge for a lottery hunt tomorrow....

to anyone in MD: FYI Blackwater Refuge Unit T is the worst place ive ever turkey hunted. Its just one big swamp. Found some sign...but it was just not happening with all the rain the day before. Most of the units in blackwater have a couple spots with high ground that concentrate the birds but UNIT T is horrible haha, dont waste your time. mosquitos and snakes were the only things i saw all day. drove to my lease for the last hour of legal hunting and called a big ol bird in to 7 yds and never got a shot. i was in a bad spot where the only way he popped up was right in front of me over the edge of the ridge. heartbreaker...completely my fault. had a bead on his head for a split second when he popped up and he dipped right back down. I wont make that mistake again. He probably wont either though lol

We kept hunting but it was quiet after the first turkey went down today. God i love turkey hunting... nothin like it when you get a tom fired up. Hit a couple yelps after i heard a hen fly down about 60 yds from us. Called her up top on the ridge and my wife was on the other side of the tree scratchin up leaves to keep her close. the closest tom was gobblin like crazy and finally popped up about 30 yds to my right. Got a little sketched out and turned around so i let him have it. 1 1/4 inch spur on the left and 3/4 on the right with an 11 1/4 inch beard. Day 6 of MD season...i think me n wife might finally get our limit this yr. There was 3 more toms gobblin on the roost this mornin and i havent heard another shot yet from the surrounding properties so i think we're good as long as that poacher doesnt waltz back in again.
2 birds in 2 hunts stone dead at impact. Crazy what these tss #9 loads can do. I broke down and bought em because it was the only ammo i could find and i was runnin low on longbeard xr. Im hooked now. All the money i waste snappin arrows i dont know why i was hellbent on never trying tss. Worth every penny. My wifes 20 ga hit just as hard on her bird. Knocks em right off their feet. Helluva load if youve never tried it!

Turkey hunted the last 3 years and got my first bird this morning. I was clueless the first year, the second year I learned a lot but never connected. Was in the blind for 30 minutes this morning and he was gobbling the whole time, heard him fly down and talked back and forth with for 20 minutes before I could tell he was headed away from me so I took off after him. 2 close encounters with does and about 300yds through the woods later I could tell he started coming back towards me so I setup and saw his tail sticking out from behind a tree at 30yds and called to him. Poked his head out and turned him into supper. 1” Spurs and a 8 1/2” beard.
