Called this double beard in for my son this morning for our opening day. Watched him with 3 hens at 80+ yds for almost 2 hrs in the rain and they left the field for the woods. I got aggressive with the hens and called them back within range finally.

Nice Bird! Congratulations!

Tagged out yesterday morning here in Georgia. All on Public.I went out every morning before work for a few hours and had some really close calls. Missed a shot on the biggest gobbler I've ever seen when he spooked , had a few come in behind me and purr and cluck like they were in my ear and had some time calling in hens that hung around for a while . This was my 1st successful season and have learned so much and that I'm addicted to the turkey woods . The past few years I had some encounters but nothing like this season.I've never woken up at 3AM everyday for a week straight for anything except when my child was a baby. Any advice on how to set up with a kid would be awesome. I'd like to try and get my daughter on a bird before season ends.IMG_7307.PNG

I’ve had the best luck when I’ve been able to roost birds the night before and get a ground blind set up way before sunrise. The kids can move around a little without spooking birds. I’ve educated a few birds trying to get a kid their first turkey but never regretted a hunt yet! Been successful serval times. Good luck!!!

Finally got one in WV this morning. Been a tough start to the season! Birds have been very quiet. I slipped in 60 yards from a known roost tree this morning and spotted one sitting on the limb. He gobbled three times and I clucked/yelped VERY lightly to let him know I was there. I saw another bird fly down but thought it was a hen so I kept watching the other gobbler waiting for him. I hear a loud spit and drumming right in front of me and this dude walks up full strut right down the gun barrel. 20ga with the Federal TSS flattened him!

Awesome bird! The birds have been dead silent so far around here also. I can usually lay in bed this time of year with the window open and hear multiple gobblers at daylight. So far I haven't heard a single gobble at my house and the one day I got out to hunt we didn't hear a bird either.

Blind calling with some hen dekes out had a yote come in around 9am. Had to shoot him in the face to save my girls.

Around 10:15 had 5 gobblers come in, I could have shot them all with 1 shot they were lined up so tight down a row of cut corn. One stuck his neck out too far and finally gave me an ethical shot.

Thanks for the recs on TSS earlier in this thread. Very effective.

Congrats guys. I haven't heard a gobble in a while until this a.m. a at 8. Well I decided to check my natural calling. I called 3 jakes 3 hundred yards up to the back of the house. Ok feeling good.

Been tough season in Louisiana for me this year. Had some excitement for youth but hasn't gotten interesting for me until last Friday. Worked a bird for 3 hours, had him at 50-70 yards for over half that time but never got it done.
Easter morning buddy and I got it done on a nice swamp bird and located a couple more for me to hunt on the way out to spend time with family.2019turkey, lanceeric.jpg
