That dude is a wizard cooking on those things. I’ve been interested in them for years. I enjoy his overland/hiking/goating/fishing/cooking/camp videos, but I’ve never bit the bullet. I tend to over-romanticize how great something like this piece of gear would be. I love making fires and camp cooking but for some reason I feel like the firebox stove would be a pain. How has it been for you?

It's been great. Being on the East Coast you never lack for fuel. I don't tend to carry it around a whole lot but will haul it in the truck or kayak. Use it a lot for cooking lunch at noon (hunting stops at 12:00 mostly in-season) after turkey hunting and then turning to fishing for the rest of the day. Carry it fishing in the kayak for cooking when a break is needed. Lately, I've used it to heat food and coffee when using my kayak to hunt the pre-rut and rut. I still need a break for "all day sits". Plus it's just fun blending hunting and bush crafting.
Picked up my first stove. I got a new small toaks twig stove for less than half regular price off of fb marketplace. It’s pouring rain today so I decided to play around with it. It boiled water under 10 mins but I had to add 4-6 sticks every 2 mins or so. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed using it.
