I know I know, this is very much an opinion based question, and your mileage may vary. But since I can’t try these before buying I’m hoping someone can shed some light. I’m going to buy a lone star and I’m not sure if I’d like the stretch or XPD panel better. I talked to Matt at TX5 and he recommended the stretch. Of course I trust his judgment, but was hoping to get some customer opinions too. Any thoughts?

I currently have a phantom and just can’t get it comfortable, looking for something more comfy. I probably lean 75% of the time and sit the other 25%. Thanks guys!

I have tried both & prefer the stretch. Like you said all personal preference. I lean most of the time & the stretch is a great benefit when sitting. The two TX5 saddles I still own are both stretch

I have a stretch Reaper and really like it, I lean the majority of my time in the tree, and it works great of me.

Thanks for the info guys! You running mesh or cordura? I thought the mesh might be cooler here in the south but not sure if it really makes a difference.

I have had both and prefer the stretch. The xpd I had was mesh and the stretch I have is cordura.

I have a cordura stretch stretch version and find it very comfortable, but I haven't tried the xpd. I also started out with the phantom and couldn't get comfortable sitting which I do 99% of the time.

My Reaper is Cordura and my pouches are Cordura.

I have the Lonestar cordura XPD and dont find it noticeably more comfortable than my XC. Havent tried the stretch but it seems most prefer it. Also I have a Phantom and couldnt get comfortable for long til I moved my backband under my legs and that helped me, but everyones different. Im hoping the MVP will be even better.

I’ll also add it’s worth the extra to get a lonestar the HPR makes a difference spreading the weight top to bottom of your hip rather than in line with your bridge…..

Order submitted. Went with the cordura stretch version. Now we wait, hope I like it. Thanks for the helps folks.

I've no experience with the stretch version, but it's probably the better bet for a leaner.

I got to briefly try a Lonestar in XPD Cordura. It was quite different than my AH Flex. The pleat definitely stays closed on the XPD unless you open it, which is great for walking, but also kind of locks the saddle into either a fully closed position or a fully open position. Whereas, my flex has some swag in between. As well, the XPD seemed to have more of a cupped shape in the expanded position for sitting than my flex. As someone who leans, I like that some of the expansion of my Flex is useful in a leaning position. I would think the stretch Lonestar would be a bit more like that.
