Ultra Light Climbing method 2.0

Ive been doing a varation of this since the beginning of the season. It has been warm here in Michigan and i am a fat guy but i am sweating so bad when i finally get up the tree. its a work out of me. I had to go back to the one stick.

Are you using a leg loop? Makes all the difference.

So, im going to do a build video of my version of this. I just ordered the items listed below ( 1 of each) and this should be everything we need to make the thing. Top tether, both prussiks, and leg loop. I know, its not AMSTEEL, but its the same thing and its what im using now.

I'm excited to see this.

What length sling will you be using?

That's the part of the build I'm most interested to see. I've tried this without a leg loop and it was just too hard to stay vertical and close to the tree.

I have been doing a version of this for awhile but I just use 2 foot loops so it looks like it might be easier with the leg loop!!! Would be interested in a building video for that!!!

Been wondering when someone would validate what Scott Adkins has been doing. Really like what I'm seeing here!!!
He really had a good idea! (or implemented an idea based on some indigenous folks) His first iterations were sketchy though and I think that's what turned many people off to it. I watched his videos over and over until I copied his gear. Then I attempted it a few times. Ended up hot and sweaty and frustrated though. Thought it wasn't for me and tossed everything aside in favor of climbing with the Solo Scout.

It wasn't until I tried again and purposely went against the thinking we all use in one-stick climbing (reaching as high as humanly possible to eek out every inch per move so you can to avoid having to make 5 transitions instead of 4) that I began to enjoy and excell in 2TC. Turns out, making smaller moves in the 18-24" range makes the whole experience easier and doesn't induce sweat!

I'm still just working on my one sticking technique as I only have 2 saddle sits and a handful of hunts from elevation. Red Beard I really appreciate your videos as they greatly lessen the learning curve.
My observation of the 2TC method, from the perspective of an aid climber is that a ball clip, fifi hook, instead of a leg hook might make it less strenuous. It would probably make it slower as the moves would be shorter.
Thanks again for the great ideas!

Had to G-ugle a fifi hook! :) Could you elaborate on how one might employ it in 2TC?

As you step up onto the lower tether, hook the fifi onto a short prusik Loop on that lower tether from a short Bridge. I believe that would allow you to not have to use your leg hook but I'm not sure of the Dynamics, given the proximity to the tree.

Sounds interesting! Wonder if you could use something else besides a fifi in the same manner? Adding a piece of metal (fifi) in close proximity to your bridge area is sure to make noise if it hits something.

Interesting, prusik near girth hitch holding hitch and clipping in like the Cain method to a belt. Afraid to google fifi hook...I wonder if this would induce kickout being attached to essentially both ends of the rope?
