Haven’t had success Grok-ing or GPT-ing a complete list of states that have unlimited anterless permits or units.

Which states have some unlimited anterless opportunities?

Its not unlimited but Michigan now allows 10 universal statewide antlerless permits to be purchased and used on private or public land. There is also the additional 10 Late Antlerless Season licenses (January hunt) that can be used in some specific counties that can be purchased. This is in addition to the two combo buck tags you can purchase which also can be used on does. That's a total of 22 antlerless deer an individual can take during the course of the season. I consider that to be a pretty unlimited number and given our deer herd numbers here in the northern lower peninsula that's just too dang many, IMO at least.

Down here in Florida you get 2 antlerless deer a year. In my zone that’s anything less than a 6pt…. I don’t know how you guys that get 6 to 10 doe tag per year can contain yourselves :tearsofjoy:

Unfortunately most places in the New England area that offer unlimited antleless tags, require a willingness to deal with a lot of variables that really suck the fun out of it.

It definitely depends on where you're at it our state. In the south where I grew up there's tons and tons of deer, but no real opportunity to hunt them. It's very heavily wieghted towards private land and even if you know someone it's probably buck only on the off chance you can get an opportunity to hunt. I enjoy hearing prospective from around our state, I don't know what the best answer is. I hear it should be much more limited the farther north we go.

In certain counties in VA, you can take two a day basically from the first of October until the first week of January, and even longer in some counties.
The issue here is access. Lots more land is unavailable to hunting, so populations explode. In the few places you can actually hunt, the population takes a huge hit.

I’ve noticed there’s rarely a question asked on hunting forums that can’t be answered by AI

Like alligators, cottonmouth, diamond back rattlers, bear, panther and pigs?
Or do you mean extreme heat, knee deep water everywhere so you need hip waders? Lol asking for a friend… :tearsofjoy:

only part of that that sounds terrible is the heat!

I’m talking about knocking on doors for days with the hopes of getting permission to sit in someone’s backyard. Then shooting a deer and praying it drops on the spot so that you don’t have to go back to those doors that already said no, and explain to them what happened and then beg for permission to go get your deer.

Yea there aren’t a lot of friendly permission property owners down here either…. So the unlimited antlerless only applies to private properties? That sucks

It applies to public too - there’s just very little of it and the deer quickly figure out it’s not safe and go into the neighborhoods. It’s a real lesson in urban planning - we need to maintain green space that’s open to hunting in urban and suburban spaces. When we don’t we have absolutely no way of actually managing animal populations using reasonable means.
