Useful hunting related 3D printer files

I’d give 2:1 odds it’s moisture, I don’t print with TPU often but when I moved away from PLA I found most materials need to be dried before first use. With nylon I dry for a few hours and print directly from the dryer, and keep the dryer running until I use up the roll or vacuum seal it back up.

If it’s an under extrusion issue I agree the most likely issue is clogged nozzle(happens often when you switch materials some of the old material gets stuck in the nozzle and bakes on). If not then you might have to adjust tension in the extruder.
Do you have a dryer you recommend? Thanks!

You could try a cold pull on the nozzle for a quick check too, see if it brings any burnt garbage out with it.

If you're just looking for an inexpensive single roll dryer you can print from, the Sunlu and Polymaker have worked for me. I usually just leave the nylon in it and when I know I have a nylon print coming, I dry it through a couple cycles and then leave it on while its printing.

I have a sunlu and that works fine

Still some bubbles but I think I found the issue. The thickness was .045 which was causing it to want to infil (start stop start etc.) a small area. The vanes were a little thick anyway so went to standard .030. This one flys great. No complaints. It’s too cool not to run now.

Last photo is with the .030 basically a continuous run each layer (no retraction) looks much better (except the bed lol)IMG_9724.jpegIMG_9725.jpegIMG_9726.jpeg

Bubbles might not be a bad thing anyway, sort of like a golf ball. But it looks like you’re dialing it in now, looks great!

Curious, do they have a twist or are they straight?

So I ordered a Creality K1C.. looking to print stuff for saddle hunting! Gear hangers, prusik aiders, etc, what type of filaments do yall use for basic accessories like this?

I use PLA or PLA + for most things but I just ordered some PETG to play with some molle adapter ideas where I need more strength than PLA.

I will still prototype stuff in PLA though due to cost.

Would love to get into ABS but its an investment and is finicky.

Nice, I’ll have to order some PLA+. Do you use a dryer? Creality seems to have some good deals on those as well, might order one, may sound stupid, but I’ll be keeping this thing in my basement which isn’t the driest environment, worth getting the dryer because of humidity? It’s heated, and cool in the summer down there, just can get kinda humid down there. I’m new to this all, sorry if it’s a dumb question!

Not a dumb question at all! I learned alot by asking questions when I first started.

Yeah, I use a sunlu dryer with mine. If you have any humidity at all I recommend a dryer.

Forgot to mention TPU. It's neat to mess with when you want something flexible.

That K1C looks like a nice rig. Read up and study on it. Bed leveling is CRUCIAL to good prints! Some machines make it easy, some its a PITA. Some toute "auto bed leveling" and it still requires adjustments by hand.

I actually just printed something to allow me to attach my molle phone holster to my backpack strap.

The molle straps on the holster are vertical, and so is the molle strap on the backpack, so I needed some way to change it 90 degrees.

So I got on tinkercad and made up a design. Ive printed this 3 times now, and this is my 3rd iteration.

I can now attach the phone holster to the strap.

I plan to reprint this with PETG later this week.

I cant take 100% credit for the design. I was chatting with our resident molle expert @bowhunthard88 and he suggested making the ends a wedge shape to increase strength. I had originally just had the small piece that goes around the strap. This turned out pretty good.

Did you get your printer yet?
