Vacation excitement (snake)

@bowhuntr09 leading in the SH Snakeboot Selling Contest for June so far ...

But as far as I know, "baby" copperheads don't get dropped off by the stork until late summer (depending somewhat on your definition of summer). April/May is mating season for the Carolina snakes I keep an eye on.

The longer-range picture is deceptive on size perspective. Haven't quite put my finger on it, but think holding a fish toward the camera or sitting way back behind a dead critter.

Also, a "baby" copperhead has a greenish or yellow tail tip. It fades over time, but it can take quite a while.

The snake in the pic is not a baby. Might not be worth puttin' on the grill, but then if you're gonna skin a bow you might as well try it. :)

Its funny to me, I think snakes are cool as heck. I remember picking up countless snakes as a kid despite my father wanting to kill me for it. Id attempt to give him pets somehow.

Now spiders... Nope nada. It's why I avoid the woods like the plague from mid May to late September

That's the worst part about them from my experience. They just lay there like a stick motionless, and they are easy to step on. A cottonmouth will usually move some to let you see it, and of course a rattler will rattle to warn you off quite often.
Yea but cottonmouths like to move towards you lol and eastern diamond backs can strike somewhere between half and a third of their overall body length.. I’ve seen them over 8’ long so that would be a very impressive striking distance warning rattle or not
