Vanes. What are you running?

The TACs are good. Very stiff and fly quietly. The shorter vanes don’t like a big helical and you need to prep like the max stealth but they are nice. I do like the stealths a little better but that’s just my opinion. I’ll be testing a bunch this off season, again. I may go back to a four fletch to loose a little overall weight and the TAC or hybrid fit the bill.

I shot the TAC driver 2.75 this year and they do everything I want them to. Quiet, stabilize and are tough. Make sure to use the primer pen and their glue, they won't budge. FWIW I shoot Iron Will single bevels out to 70 while practicing, no problems with erratic flight.

I personally only run 3 vanes…. Don’t have a reason other than saving on weight

also don’t like the weight of max stealth - tend to run blazers, bohning bully’s or heats

been shooting hexx and just switched to 4mm lr axis

So what do you guys recommend for my future arrow setup? I want to shoot around 55 lbs, my dl is 27-27.5 so my arrow is about 28 inches.

I'm going to try some heavy head in the 150-200 range. Got some 150gr Magnus Stinger recently! Still not sure about what 200gr I want.

I’ve been using the Q2 fusion X-II 3” vanes. They are a hair lower profile than the 2.1”. I cut the tail end off to make them 2 1/4”.
If yours are coming off it’s most likely the arrow shaft prep or the glue being used. When I get it right, they won’t come off for nothin!

The thread is talking about veins but just wanted to ask first. Are you asking about vein choices or arrow setup choices? Haha

VANES.

From what I understand, it is recommended that you have larger vanes if you want to run high FOC. I preferred the look of low profit 4 fletches. But I only shot 3 fletch Blazers vanes mostly with 100gr boardheads. I dont have a lot of experience with vanes in general so I might not even know how to tell good from bad setup.

I shoot a 3-fletch heavy helical Max Stealth 2.6" with 125 gr. Exodus fixed blade broadheads with ABSOLUTE PERFECT flight to as far as I can accurately shoot. That being said. . .other than the noise (have had deer hear it coming - squirrels on my back yard range scatter) the the Q2 Fusion X-ll 2.1" in a 4-fletch steers my 1 1/4" Exodus BH's perfectly out to 65yds. !!! Just my $0.02 for ya.

Aae hybrid. Very similar to the stealth just don't need the primer pen to install.

Zingers man!!! Try 'em you'll like em and if you ruin them, save them and send them back they'll replace them for the price to ship them back to you. I sent a whole dozen in last season. I didn't realize my drop away was in the way and one side kept hitting and they stabilized my arrow so well I didn't realize I had a problem until I kept noticing problems with one vane breaking apart. What I like is that you index nock tune your bare shaft for a bullet hole or close to it then orient the zingers with your broadheads and your arrow is still indexed for paradox. It takes some time but it is worth it in my book. Finally, they are light and help you achieve FOC or EFOC.

I’m waiting for the 2.5” Q2i Fusion X-ii for 2022. 2.5" long, 0.45" tall, and 5.5 grains shield cut

seems like a happy medium. Specs seems like they’ll stabilize a larger fixed head with only 3 fletch
Are those already available or are they coming out? That’s kind of the size and profile I was looking for

Were you running those 4 fletch with the high helical as well?

Blazers. They came with the GT arrows. Bow and arrow set up tuned great with them so no reason to change. I however don't use a heavy arrow set up like what is currently trending these days. Just like my shotguns. Once I find what choke/vanes/arrows/loads, etc. work best I don't change.

The aae max stealth 2.3 are 5 grains, I think. They would be a good four fletch.

I did try them in 4-fletch but with not as much helical. . .didn't change a thing arrow flight wise, but it did slow my arrow down by 8fps. The 3-fletch Max Stealth on my set-up just ROCKS!!!

Running 4 fletch slight left helical A&A feathers with a turbulator this past season. These were truflight full length I cut down with a template. This is on my heavy set up running 675 grains at about 28% FOC. 190 grain Grizzly single bevels up front.

4 fletch Max Stealth's for hunting - May give 3 fletch a better go now that Iron Will made the left single bevels - Target/TAC arrows are 4 fletch Promax, seem to give me the best forgiveness at 100+ yards with lighter arrows, Stealth's always drifted further in strong winds. Tried a ton of vanes and always seem to come back to AAE in some configuration - Hunting setup is Vap SS 250's @ 575 grains. TAC is Vap TKO 300's @ 435 grains if that counts

2" Blazers straight three fletch on 585 and 640 grain GT arrows topped with single bevels. Both weights hit with my field points out to 50 yards.
If your bow is tuned well it shouldn't make a difference what vane you use.
