In my quest to discover more meat and meals out of a deer, I arrive at the tongue. This was my first tongue to ever cook. It looks alien at first but I can tell you this thing taste amazing. It's tender and flavorful. I had heard it was a fatty cut and that is true. My hands were greasy after handling the peeled tongue. That fat gives it a delicious flavor. Once prepared the weirdness fades away and the taste blew my mind. I highly recommend saving and cooking your tongues. If you don't want them, vac-seal then freeze them and mail them to me :)

I used this Meat Eater recipe and it was delightful.

I've been wanting to try this recipe since I seen it last year, unfortunately didnt get a deer this past season. Maybe this coming up season.

you can also recruit you hunting buddies to give you tongues from their deer. I sent a group text to my hunting buds and they all thought I was crazy for eating a tongue. I’m gonna request all their tongues this fall. I just can’t cook it for them or they will stop giving them to me.

how does this compare to beef tongue taste and texture wise?

Keep these posts coming. I want to use as much as i can from every deer, and this sounds delicious. I have eaten beef tongue a long time ago,my grandmother cooked it and i don't think that is a good memory.
I am willing to try this though.

Pretty similar. I never ate a tongue in my life but cooked one beef and 3 venison all at once with the same recipie. I didn’t think it was worth the trouble and thought the beef was better. I prefer venison over beef in general so I was surprised. I am an adventurous eater and really wanted to like it.

I bit through my own tongue once. That feeling of breaking through will be one I never forget. I guess it’s different when it’s cooked but I’ve got some mental hurdles to work through with this one...

I've never cooked a beef tongue but I will probably try it now. It was a lot of work for a little meat but it was very good meat. I will probably do multiple venison tongues at a time in the future.

Yeaaaa! I love cow tongue. I slice it thin for sammiches. Never thought to cut one out a deer before. I've tried almost everything but the liver n gonads on a deer. The liver spoils way quicker than the heart in my experience. It just smells off whenever I save one and get it home.
