Thinking about these for my Doug-fir wood arrows - anyone use these (or any vented) on trad and have issues with noise?
Go with solids??

I've shot a lot of broadheads over the years, both vented and non-vented and have never noticed any difference in sounds made by either.

I've shot vented Magnus and I can't say that I could detect noise from the head.
But fletching can certainly make noise. I'd be more concerned about the fletching set up.

I've shot several deer with the woodsman and they are a darn good head. I have 4-5 laying around that I'm not using if you want em.

If he doesn’t, I do. Love the things. Probably my all time favorite. Well, besides a big Snuffer.

Heat em up and replace with a 32 grain aluminum short adapter…….just saying.

Generally, I’ll just use an aluminum 42 grain long. Won’t even notice a difference.

The reason I like them is I can make them whatever weight I want by switching out the glue in adapter with hot melt. I can go to 250 grains with a true 125 and a steel 125 adapter.

I can definitely hear some broadheads almost whistling through the air. The G5 montec comes to mind. A lot of people like that head but I just didn’t get along with it. In my experience a vented 2 blade is quieter than 3 blades, but I really don’t think it matters too much

There is definitely noise with the iron Will vented. I covered with tape and the noise went away.

I started using the Wensel Woodsman years ago and I have had good luck with them.
Now they are called Woodsman since 3 Rivers brought out Gene Wensel. I never noticed a issue with noise.
Yeas ago we wanted to compare the noise of plastic vanes to feathers. My friend shot a compound and was using feathers and he was considering going to vanes.
We set up the target and listener as shown. With the building blocking the sound from the bow, the listener can only hear the arrow in flight and the sound of the arrow hitting the target. We found that feather made noise in flight were vanes we almost completely quite. You may want to try this out with broadheads. 20210721_094100-1.jpg

If the game has time to escape due to broadhead noise, we may be shooting a little farther than we should. Vanes make a lot of noise as well. I have some of each. I just don't think it's that important.
