VT Prussic for Rappel

What are the down sides to using a VT Prussic as a rappel option alone? I see others using it as a backup to a Figure 8 or ATC but doesn’t it do the majority of the work anyway when put above the so called primary device?

A friction hitch above will take the majority of the weight. Search for JRB climbing on here and YouTube to see how to use a munter with friction hitch above.

If hitch is below, the device takes most of the force.

Below seems to make for an easier descent for me, but if a good hitch, cord and we’ll dressed, above can be good too. Hitch above is more convenient in my opinion.
