Hard hunting, but found plenty elk. This guy and another bull were in a lush spring fed creek surrounded by hunters within .5 mile on every side. Left the bugle at camp, snuck in and gave a soft mew. He was on top of me within seconds, slipped an arrow through at 25 yards. Died within 200 yards.

That’s awesome, congrats on the accomplishment. What state?

When I saw your post title I thought you may have tied elk horns on a few squirrels or something..... wow... that's a beauty man! Congrats!! Great work!!

Congrats!! I am hoping to do the same one day. Can you share more about your hunt? What state? What type of hunt (OTC, draw, etc)? Elk hunting is on my bucket list, but sometimes reading about it makes it seem daunting to get out there!

Where did the arrow "slip in"?... Mud or blood back by the hip?

4/5th rib gap on entrance, got a very unlucky deflection inside and exited a few inches in front of offside ham. Saw blood immediately, so felt good, then had a lot of things make me feel much worse about shot between then and getting back to camp. But very lucky I’m pretty sure I severed dorsal aorta. He died within minutes of shot by how stiff he was. He did bed down though. I’ll do a more thorough write up.
