Watch your straps!!!!

"BTW the stand and strap is maybe 3 months old and well taken care of as I repack and inspect everything after a hunt for the next hunt and prior to this hunt the strap was fine "
Honestly I'd probably run something other than the stock strap at this point.

But @Razorbak66 said he had inspected his strap just a few days before?
I did but as you know shizz happens but I commend Matt for putting it out there that there was a failure and and like I said he was already taking steps to insure there wouldn’t be a problem in the future. Mine was unfortunate with the timing that’s why I started this thread to have everyone check your gear as you know we are taking a risk in saddle hunting vs tree stands but hey that’s what we chose and I feel very confidant in hunting out of a saddle because I feel we take more measures in our safety vs the tree stand guys I like you know guys out there who do not wear proper harnesses if any while hunting reasons I heard is it restricts shot angles and it’s uncomfortable. Well I hope those guys make it out of the woods alive and back to their family’s safely each and every time
A big thank you to you guys who understood the meaning of this thread I just wanted to raise awareness as you remember there is always a mishap each and every year that hunter either got seriously hurt or worse. Stay safe and kill some huge monsters this fall

EDIT: I MISSED WHERE THEY OFFERED TO REPLACE ALL STRAPS FOR FREE ANS RETRACT THE STATEMENT BELOW

I think your starting the thread was great and has raised a great deal of awareness. Love that.

But what steps has Matt taken to insure that all straps already given out to customers are not faulty? You already illustrated that checking them before you go did not matter so why would that prevent anyone else’s platform/strap from having the same issue? From their notice, that’s the only step I’m aware of them taking.

He sent that out to every email from his order system that placed orders and signed up. Posted it on the website. What else do you want him to do exactly? That’s more than most would do. They would just replace the faulty stuff as it’s returned.

I overlooked where they stated they’d replace your strap for free. That’s what I expected them to do. That’s 100% my mistake.

The only potential missing piece is identifying why and either tracing it to e.g. a bad batch or replacing with an improved part. But that takes more time and maybe it's just bad luck anyway.

I dont see where I got an email from Matt. I fo have one from last year when I bought the platform asking me how I like it, so I would expect they have my contact info.

Man this is a bummer. I got my replacement straps. Went to the yard & tested at knee height. They seemed to hold fine but when I removed off the step, had 3 different tear spots on the strap, right where it was around the button. I used the exact same loop method shown on the web sight. Really hate it. Definitely wouldn't trust the 5/8th mini flat replacement. Sucks to spend that much money on 4 sticks & have to outsource & buy better straps. Luckily eastern outdoors has a decent price on their daisy chain webbing straps. Still sucks to have to drop another $52 to have straps I can trust my life to.

Very unhappy at this point, but grateful for this thread before having one possibly cause a accident 25ft up. replacement.jpgstrap.jpg

Is that the factory sewn loop on the strap that came with the sticks?

Yes. It's the 5/8th mini flat that came with the sticks. The pics are actually the replacement
he mailed out. After reading this thread I was pretty iffy & decided to try them in the yard
at knee height before hunting with them tomorrow. Guess it's back the the summit until I get
the straps from eastern. Sucks.

Okay Matt's fast. He's on it & aware of the replacement. Said he has a box
x stitching machining on the way & switching to 1800 tensile webbing.

Hopefully this gets the safety factor where it needs to be.

Makes me feel better about the company for listening & responding so fast.

Still as of now I wouldn't use the 5/8 flat. I'm cutting up all 8 I have now.

I’m surprised you got your straps already I started this thread and I have yet to receive my replacement straps and he had my info from last week and I had to send my address again yesterday and the box stitch machine from what I understand was supposed to be set up last week from when I talked to him. Good to know that you tested at ground height and found out the results

That stinks. He sent mine out on the 21st before this tread. It wasn't till after I got
the new one's that I saw this tread. I was kind of worried about the replacements.
Started researching & found your thread. Guess you weren't the only one with a problem.

Honestly can't understand why they don't remove & recall all the straps with issues.
After digging around found people addressing the issues all the way back to May.
Looks like they're still selling them non stop. Hopefully he gets it under control before
it's to late.

Honestly, I wouldn't wait for the replacement unless it's after he gets a new machine
& better webbing.

From what I know he has the machine and Webbing and I think my replacement was sent yesterday

I called him last night about my Solo Scout strap (bought the Solo second hand). Said I needed to send in my current strap and once he receives it, he will send a replacement. Said he's trying to get all the old ones out of circulation.

The 5/8 above isn't going to be the replacement right?

I sent my straps so he should receive today or tomorrow but I feel he should send straps then you won’t be without and then you can send your straps and good for him trying to get out of circulation that I’m glad about. I’m currently using my LW straps which I added more stitches to the strap. Has anyone use OCB buckles on their stands? I’m considering it

I get what you're saying but by requiring them to be sent back first, he can guarantee they're out of circulation once he scraps them. If he sends a strap first, he can't be sure someone doesn't continue to use the old one or give it to someone else. Maybe it helps him with liability?

I totally understand from his standpoint but looks like I’m gonna have to make my own until I get replacement granted I’m using LW ones right now that I added extra stitches to
