I wanted to share a water bottle that I have found that is perfect for saddle hunting. I have been using them a couple of years and they work great. They are made by Nalgene and they are curved on the back and flat so they fit perfect in a pants pocket or a small backpack. Here is the photo of them in case anyone is interested

That would be handy. I have a plastic bottle with a thin insulating cover I use for early season - its prolly 16 oz...I fill about half with crushed ice and the rest with water....Great way to cool down on those hot days.....

The water pouch type ones are nice too.....pack easily, plus they shrink as you use them. I'll take 1 molle pouch hard bottle on my backpack, or maybe try it on the saddle, and 2 or 3 water pouches in the bottom of the backpack. Fill the hard bottle as needed. This is the best method I've used so far. Platypus is the brand name ones but the ones i have are just knock offs i picked up at goodwill. Early bow season can still be in the 90s+ so needless to say i am carrying way to much water weight......my friend tries to skimp on carrying more than just 1 small water bottle and every year I'll hear at least 2 ''i ran out of water'' stories. Dehydration leads to pore decision making = losing equipment, back tracking decisions, not waiting on the right shot

Ithink i wore a jacket on maybe 3 hunts in the last two or three hunting seasons.

I’ve got one Copenhagen sent me. It’s metal, wrapped in leather and has a brass plate with my initials on it

Do you get other benefits from this type of bottle other than reusability vs just packing a couple ice mountains? Less noisy maybe as they are emptied?
