Well that was close (bowstring broke) round 2

Here is another hypothesis I am working on. The old Wing archey catalogs recommend the below brace height. If I was below that brace height by an inch or two that could cause the string to impact the bow at a different location and therefore cause it to wear more. What do yall think?

If I remember they sometimes measured BH from back of riser vs throat of grip like we do now days and while it’s a possibility it hit different but I ran many a bow under recommended BH I’m sure plenty others have as well

A later 1970s magazine listed the bow with above brace height. I would have been in the recommended brace height.

what do y’all think, should I go with an endless loop string or stick with Flemish and add string groove silencers to maybe protec t the string a little more?

I like endless little more than Flemish both easy to make but the endless has less material in loops but that’s negible to me and as long as you use proper strand count they are awesome and slightly adjustable I make mine with 2 colors and 1/4” longer than amo for that particular bow so as string stretch’s I can still twist to get that candy/Flemish affect I rarely have to adjust BH after it’s been broken in same said for a properly made Flemish. It’s slightly noisy compared to Flemish but easily fixed slight more speed than Flemish. My DAS has been wearing a endless with MM string system of my own make for the last 4 years and it stretches maybe 1/8” every now and then and still in great shape as I wax and burnish it every month. My vote goes for endless

Where does one purchase a good continuous loop bowstring. Is it worth buying somewhere special or should I just get a generic one from cabelas?

3 rivers is the better choice for a b50 made for traditional by people who shoots traditional. Bass/cabelas has the generic endless which are crap. If you ever want a HP endless and your NEXT bow can handle it give me a shout I’ll make you one FOC

Also you can easily make one with minimal investment and tools. Tons of really good info on the you tube if you don’t have someone locally to show you

Here you go

Only other possibility I can come up with is the the flemish was done without feathering the strands. If all strands were the same length that could create a weak spot with a hinge effect where loop twist end. Just wouldnt think that is the case though.

I’m just glad someone else shoots in the house. I made a thread about an easy way to paper tune, and all I got were comments about how dumb I am for shooting in my house.

heathens!
I shoot in my house all the time in the winter. In the basement but still in the house!!

Can I twist a continuous loop bowstring to get the brace height how I want it? My brace height came in at 8" when I first put the string on. It was at 7 3/4 after the first night, and 7 1/2 at the first day, and had settled out a little now. @Razorbak66

Yes you can. I put about 20 twists in the continuous loop strings I build with the expectation that I’ll need to twist them up more. I try not to go much over 1 twist per inch of string.

Thanks man!

Yep you can like @JSEXTON23 says. That’s the downside of Dacron it stretches way to much unless it’s planned to make it 1/2 to 3/4” less before it’s stretched. If you didn’t mind black color I found some b50 material in my pile of string material I can make you a endless up as a back up if you end up liking endless for that bow

Have you shot it yet. What are your thoughts snd if it’s to loud put a sm strip of Velcro in the lower section of the string grooves where string contacts the limb. Like maybe a 2” section in that area
