I am new to saddle hunting and have always worn rubber boots for deer hunting, but with platforms being smaller than my stands, I think soft boots would be uncomfortable on a platform.
Looking for recommendations for a warm stiff soled boot.
TIA

I've woren rubber boots on my platform before. I generally don't like them for lots of walking but for just standing there, I didn't notice a difference. Just my experience. Good luck!

For short walks i use my 10 yo Muck Ranger Boots with zero issues.

For long walks in i wear my Danner Pronghorns.

I really see no difference in actually being on the platform while hunting. It’s walking miles in rubber boots i hate.

Walking in rocky terrain with rubber boots is the worst, IMHO.

Most any boot should be just fine as far as the platform goes...comfort while walking or hiking in and the weather conditions really are the factors to decide which boots to use...no worries about the boots on the platform has been my experience

A stiffer sole or something with a steel shank is the best for standing on a platform whether it's on a rubber or leather boot doesn't matter. Typically when on a platform you spend most of your time leading with your feet positioned against the edge of the platform putting your weight on the arch of your foot.

As stated, I haven't noticed a ton of difference while actually standing on the platform between rubber boots or hiking type boots. I prefer to wear my Danner Alsea's because they are so much better to walk in. Mine are uninsulated because my feet sweat easily while walking but they have kept me warm all season here in southern IL, although it hasn't been all that cold. I've worn them on mornings around 25-30 and been fine. They do make an insulated version though, never tried them.
