What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

Received a rappel ring in the mail and practiced one-sticking using the JRB cinch. Looking forward to adding one-sticking to my hunts this year. Going to have to sell some equipment once I fully commit. :)

Didn't like my tree strap last year. The design is good but the webbing was too thick causing it to bind in the G-Hook. Today, I cut a section off an old camo ratchet strap (thinner webbing) and sewed up a new strap. Works much better now and packs thinner. Being that the hook is 3/4", the webbing is 1" and having OCD about making things "just a bit better", I'll probably get a 1" hook and sew up another strap.

Repacked my aid kit. In the kit, there's:
- CAT TQ
- 4" Israeli bandage
- Assorted band-aids
- Tweezer

No things that bite except for bees and mosquitoes to worry about. Band-Aids are there because I'm a klutz and the Israeli and/or CAT covers any bleed or bone emergency.
You might add some packing gauze, preferably with a clotting agent like Quick-Clot. I carry a full-bore IFAK with two rolls of clotting gauze, 2 Hyfin chest seals, a CAT TQ, Israeli dressing, and some odds and ends. I'm going to add a few mylar blankets to it when I get back from my business trip.

I just replaced my spare AAA batteries for the headlight I keep in my pack and replaced the Benadryl packs I had in there too. I don’t keep any bandages but I will keep Benadryl with me. I’m not allergic but my kid is and it’s not worth the risk of not having some for me too. I also replaced the kill switch cord on my boat. It was all wore out and I never wore it. I’ll be wearing it from now on and especially when I’m shooting across the lake to my WMA.

Pulled the card on one of my cameras over a scrape in on public I’ve had in there since February 12th. Some decent bucks hat I can tell so far a couple may be shooters. One thing is I was able to narrow down a travel corridor near that scrape where a majority of the natural deer movement is occurring.

Wholeheartedly agree with everything you listed and would add trauma shears, decomp needle and duct tape. Going one step further, I might as well add my suture kit...and that highlights the problem I'm working hard to resolve. Where I hunt, I'm within a mile of major roads and/or farms so wound packing and sutures aren't needed. While I could fall out of a tree and pop a lung requiring decompression, that's yet another "what-if" rabbit hole I don't want to chase.

Just like climbing methods and all other gear, I'm trying hard to pare down to what I need for my specific area as opposed to bring anything that I "may need". I went out every time last season with less than what I had the prior hunt for this very reason and am trying to not regress.

Arrived at the public gun range in the forest at sun up and shot all the deer guns. Met a guy and ended up showing him the whole saddle deal. Older guy who has been hunting with hang on and sticks for years...he was an easy convert..... I sent him to a local shop in Jax to go try on local made Woods saddle.....ur welcome @Fl Canopy Stalker

Saturday, walked the logger through the 5 areas I had previously marked for TSI. After we met I had to move and mark an access line for the trucks because they werent going to be able to access through where we really wanted it. Then we spent a few hours on saws reclaiming a wheeler trail. At 4pm when we came out of the woods it was 99 and the wind chill was 109. Fun day in the woods.
