What did you do today?

Bought a new bow that I didn’t need. Which led me to buy a new rest that I didn’t need before the bow. Which then led me to buy a new sight that I didn’t need. Now I just gotta buy new arrows that I didn’t need.

show and tell brotha!!!!

Bless you man! I struggle in situations like that. I tend to panic to be honest. No way I could work in a hospital.
I'm a nurse for elderly and disabled folks, so I gotta be quick on my feet with medical emergencies like that. I'm super grateful I was able to help, but to be honest, I couldn't remember how to Heimlich a baby. I flipped him over, elevated his legs and patted on his back. That is one method of clearing a choking baby. The paramedics showed up super fast, within minutes, and I'm grateful for their quick response.

That is a crappy day brother! But I’d like to think the Good Lord put you at your sisters to help your cousin. I pray things will get better for you. Just think, bow season is upon us!!! That’s a blessing for sure!
I plan to hunt the AM, hoping my luck changes and the big one wanders by.... and clear my mind a bit in the woods

Last night I was burning the midnight oil. Getting my broadheads aligned with the zinger vanes, spin testing each broadhead to check for alignment, weighing each and matching them based on shaft weight to have as many similar weighted shafts as possible. I put the heaviest heads on the lightest shafts. All variances were within < than 2 grains. I was surprised how precise the Slicktrick SS3’s all came within 10ths of a grain with each other. Most weighed 100.8 none less than 100.5 grains. My total arrow weight is in the 476 grain range. I have 200gr up front down from 250gr over the last three years. I think I’m shooting this arrow at around 269fps at my 27.5 inch draw length on this particular bow.

What's the rest of your bow setup? I'm similar draw length and would love to have a 475ish arrow going 270ish!

'21 PSE Xpedite NXT at 60lbs. I do have to confirm via chrono though. That was based on a arrow speed calculator. I believe I was shooting last year's shafts at 532gr. TAW at around 255fps and 373 gr arrows I use for turkeys in the 285fps range.

Not much I can do, I'm on a plane at the moment. I have been somewhat amused by the fact that I had a doe browsing in front of one of my cell cameras for a while, I couldn't get the camera to accept a settings change so was worried she was about to blow through all 100 free photos for the month, but seems to have moved on after a few dozen. Wish it was a buck, but in reality it's a "my size" deer lol, if it's brown it's down season.

Edit: nope, dang it, fawn and doe, fawn bedded in front of the cam while doe went exploring. Cameras still clicking away lol

Scouted in 1.4 miles or so to a point of interest. Found the best sign in the first 125 yards of the woods lol. Did find my first definitely active and fresh scrape and spotted a deer about 45-50 yards from there though!

Scouted again this morning. Same spot I’ve been keeping an eye on. Had a mom and a little one feed up to about 40 yards from me. I just sat down and watched for a while.

Found a scrape on the transition line off a trail that connects bedding to these white oaks. Marked that spot on OnX and will return with a bow in about a week. Just so much deer sign in these oaks it’s amazing. Small area which is nice and it’s a little pocket between multiple bedding areas

Thank God it turned well.

@kitshikers the thing is to keep on keeping on.
Just be careful hauling the crossbow around and up the tree.

Funny thing,
I took my brothers crossbow out once many years ago and the thing made me feel uneasy like it could go off.
I never felt that way carrying a rifle.

Its early in the day but what I did today is have a chuckle as I'm having coffee on the job.
Out of nowhere I remembered a post by NB about wanting to find a job that gave him the ability to hunt and fish to his hearts delight or something to that effect.
I am going on 35 days in a row and tomorrow I start turbine control valve project for 7 weeks, 7 days a week.

I console myself in the hunting I have done and the hunting to come if I live to see the day I retire. I'm 59.5 and in the highest earning days of my career.
Now is not the time for me to be out.

The last 13 years have been mostly work and little hunting.

When I get a chance to get out I enjoy every moment, a squirrel, blue jay or grouse. Maybe some tukeys in the distance.
When we are younger or simply able to be out frequently we sometimes take it for granted without realizing it.

I keep looking forward.
When I hang it up I too will have many a tale to tell.
These days, I just remember the time I..

Opening morning of rifle season, so i went duck hunting while the orange idiots were out tromping through all the woods. 19* outside, nice chilly morning.

My dad has a seat on a platform set out in the reeds in front of his lake house. I figured id go out there because its private and there are sometimes ducks out there. the plastic of the seat completely froze overnight, causing it to be super brittle. about 45mn into my hunt, it shattered into 50 pieces with zero warning. as i fell backwards, i tried to grab the platform, but it was too narrow, so my right arm and face went right into the nastiest wettest sludge. figured that was a good sign to call it, and go get warm.

but my dad and brother got their deer this morning, so they should be wanting to get the duck boat back out again

That sounds like one of my duck hunts.

I've been gone most of the week so I decided not to go out this weekend. Heading out next weekend though with wx looking to be sub-freezing, chances for snow and winds 30mph+. That'll be fun in a tree.

I scored a 4pk hawk helium 20" and an XOP Air Raid Evolution hang on for my grandson today.
Only got a small deal on stiks $95.
The stand price is everyday price, no Black Friday deal.
I was going to ask people about which mini stik to buy and stand but just went ahead on these.

I do wonder if I should of got others stiks tho..
