So I've got a 2 hour sit and a 3 hour sit in it. I want to get a few more sits under my belt before I make the video. Should be able to do that since Sunday opens up hog season in my big backyard. Here are my thoughts so far.
First, the "ass floss" thing is 100% a non issue. That "bikini strap" in no way, shape, or form puts pressure on you unless you want it to. That strap is how the leg loops are connected to the top waist belt, since they can't be connected "normally" to the bottom strap and allow the saddle to function properly. If you disconnect the leg loops, there's no pressure. If you loosen them like most folks do at height, there's no pressure. If you cinch them tight enough that you feel it digging into your backside, you're gonna feel the straps digging into your groin before you notice anything else.
Second, it's surprisingly comfortable. I'm not going to say it's more comfortable than the size 2 kite I just got, but I also have 2 years of experience in aerohunter products, and only 5 hours in a tactisaddle. I want to call John at some point and pick his brain as to how he wears his.
You have a LOT of options when it comes to adjustment. More so than the anderson, I think. You can independently position the top strap and bottom "rump" strap to wherever you want them, and you can also tighten up the bottom strap up with aerohunter style adjusters. Lots of stuff to play around with.
It wears and walks-in very well. Weighs significantly less than my kite. Somewhat surprisingly, it is very easy to put on. I thought having a mess of straps would be a problem, but so far it kinda works itself out once you grab the waist buckle. I wore it in on about a half mile walk this weekend, and it was unnoticeable even in the 90 degree heat. I also packed and unpacked it in my Badlands pack, and that wasn't bad either.
The linemans loops are pretty far forward, which I like. They're a little small, but they're stiff and I had no problems using them.
First impressions are that it's perfectly fine for shorter sits. I think I could do an all day sit, but as of now it's not my first choice. John has said multiple times that he sits all day, and I'm interested to discuss that more.
I think it would really shine in two scenarios. One, if you're hunting out of a treestand and using a RCH, this would be a neat upgrade. I know some guys have done the "hybrid" thing where you can choose to sit in a loc-on or use it with a saddle as a foot platform. This would pair PERFECTLY with the windwalker. Second, if you were elk hunting or, in my case, hog hunting on foot, this would be the perfect saddle to cram in a pack with a set of bolts "just in case" you wanted to set up on something.
I do think it might be better for folks with a platform than dedicated ROS users. Being able to take a little more weight off of your rear might be nice on a longer sit. I kinda identify as a sitter, so I'm not really an expert there though.
Overall, my thoughts so far are that it's a valid option for some folks. The build quality seems good, the price is good, and the turnaround time is currently the best on the market. Currently, I do not think it is as comfortable as Aerohunter's products, but that may change. I'll definitely be playing with it more.
