The scope is insignificant - red dot or regular is whatever you like to see for a sight picture. The key is to get an HHA Optimizer for the xbow to adjust the scope and not rely on extra crosshairs. Easy sight in session and you will be good from 0-80 yards with it. Just range the target, turn the dial to the exact range, and shoot!
PARKER RED HOT CROSSBOW SCOPE - 3x32 PIN POINT ILLUMINATED RETICLE - HAWKE | eBay
The 3X32 Pin Point Scope is easy to use. SimplyRange It, Dial It, Shoot It…. No more hold over or hold under as with standard multi-reticle crossbow scopes. The 3X32Pin Point Scope is the essential scope for precision crossbow shooting.www.ebay.com
I scraped up one of these on eBay at the extreme recommendation of a friend. I love it so far. Dead accurate out to 60, should I ever feel the need. And I’m shooting heavy stuff!

I'm unimpressed with oem scopes from barnett and excalibur. The hawke scope that was included with the excalibur micro I got used from AT last year is definitely a step up. Sadly my eyes are too poor to get into much moor detail.
