What is best for a crossbow

I am not a fan of red dots personally so I have always used the scope. I like the Hawke scopes. Wyvern Creations usually has some really good prices.

I have a red dot on one shotgun and scope every where else. The red dot is great with glasses and at shorter ranges.
Just wondering about opinions.

The scope is insignificant - red dot or regular is whatever you like to see for a sight picture. The key is to get an HHA Optimizer for the xbow to adjust the scope and not rely on extra crosshairs. Easy sight in session and you will be good from 0-80 yards with it. Just range the target, turn the dial to the exact range, and shoot!

I still have that on one bow and it was good when my kids were younger as it made it easy for me to know they had the correct distance. I would either reach over and adjust or tell them what number to put it on.

However I much prefer the multi-reticle scope. I have had deer at 20yards that I was preparing for a shot that suddently turned and went to 35. I then had to make movement to adjust the scope. Not so bad early season but more of an issue during the rut when quick shots tend to happen. With the multi-reticle I can easily adjust.

The HHA system is a nice system though. If I use that bow I tend to set it on 25 or 30 and then use Kentucky windage if it is a quick shot. If you have time and can make the movement then it does work well.

I scraped up one of these on eBay at the extreme recommendation of a friend. I love it so far. Dead accurate out to 60, should I ever feel the need. And I’m shooting heavy stuff!

What bow did you put it on

Excalibur makes the best X-bow scope I have seen. It has a computer tuned radical that is accurate to 60 yards. You mount it, set your arrow speed in FPS and sight it in for 20 yards. From there it is set dead on out to 60 yards . I have not set my sights in 3 years and killed 7 deer on the original sight in. So it holds its sight in very well. Sorry I have no model number to share as I am at work and the x-bow is at the house.

I'm unimpressed with oem scopes from barnett and excalibur. The hawke scope that was included with the excalibur micro I got used from AT last year is definitely a step up. Sadly my eyes are too poor to get into much moor detail.

The bottom end Excalibur scopes are not great. The top end ones are better. It might depend on which you have tried
